I have a Cobra light bar that needs a new home.  I ran it for five years.  Its been boxed and wrapped in towels for four years.  Chrome is in very good condition.  Bike and appurtenances washed/waxed routinely, and always garaged.  Scores a 9 out of a possible perfect 10.  Assembly fits '97 thru '99 year model Valks.  Installation instruction included.  It's my understanding that '00 and newer bikes have a slightly different setup for turn signals, requiring a light bar part number specific to those years.  I've never sold anything online before.  Never done the Ebay thing.  Will put it on the classifieds here, just looking for some insight on how to value the device and process the transaction.  Receive payment before shipping?  Or, ship before receiving payment?  Who pays the freight.  I'm a trusting soul, but really don't care to be stiffed on the deal.  How do you pull this off without getting burned?

I purchased a brand new Cobra Billet LiightBar from a Honda Dealer in California 6 months ago for $100.00   They found it stuffed away on one of the shelves when they where cleaning the stockroom.  I feel I got a great  deal, since I went on the Web and found new ones selling for about $350.00.

I would suggest you do some reseach on the Web to get an idea of a fair price.

As far as who pays for shipping that is up to you, but it is not uncommon for the buyer to pay for the shipping cost.

It is also up to you on receiving payment before shipping and getting the actual cash.  There are a lot of scammers out there.  My experince with the other VRCC members on the classifieds has been excellent.

I picked mine up pre-woned many moons ago (8-9 years?) from a fellow VSG member for $215.00, the going rate for new on HDL was $397.95. Mine were in excellant shape and had the 50W lamps in them.

Whatever you're comfortable with on the price. I would think that at least $350 shipped (includes shipping expense) in the lower 48 would be a good price if they are in as good a shape as you mentioned. You decide if that includes insurance, I typically always encouraged and included insurance as UPS & USPS can be brutal. Pack it well if it ends up being shipped.

I've been lucky enough to have 100% great buying and selling experiences with all VRCC members to-date and have done many. I have waited for the checks to clear before shipping and have shipped before the monies were received on clothing items so that they could be tried on.

A postal money order was usually a safe bet, but have accepted personal checks and Paypal.

Like mentioned before, there are scammers out there so you might have them include their VRCC Member# (can we still see those somehwere like on the old board?).

Most people prefer to see a photo so you might try to post a shot on just pic's or photostash, or somewhere else that can link to the goods being offered.

Good luck. I love my Cobra Lightbar!  cooldude

I've seen them going for around $350.00-$600.00. depends on condition and what someone is willing to pay. You can use Evil-Bay and let folks get caught up in the bidding process (you'll get more $). You can try Craig's List for free, or The VRCC Classifieds and list it at a fair price for a brother! I would negotiate the price to include the shipping. You can pre-package it and take it to the post office and weigh it, to figure your shipping. Evil-Bay will protect you in the transaction. When I have sold to VRCC members in the past, I accept a check as long as I can verify there membership number first. Several transactions, all went well.  cooldude

I just bought a new one from a rider in California who has sold his bike and never put the light bar on his Valk. $240.00 to my door, his price listed on the classifieds. I am usually a day late and a dollar short on these type of items, but I happened to be looking at the classifieds just minutes after he posted the ad. $100.00 would be a steal and I thought that the $225.00 plus shipping for a new unused item like this to be fair. What the market will bare is fair I guess, especially if you're selling but I won't pay an arm and a leg for something I can live without.
