Getting a tire mounted wed or thurs and don't have any valve stems left. No way to get to a dealer in the next few days and was wondering about any aftermarkets. I have a big tire place here in town and I might check there but not sure what to look for.

I bought some metal ones for lifetime no leaks. I got mine from PatchBoy.com. They were only about $2 each. If you are just out of luck finding one, you can put a short car rim rubber stem in for a temporary fix. They make it very hard to check pressures and add air though.

Use a 90% chrome valve stem.  Check with your local automotive tire shop and if they don't have one in stock they usually deal with a tire supply company that comes around once a week and can have one delivered.  I bought some from Western Supply but Tech Supply has them as well.  They are both tire supply outfits.

The patchboys 90 degree as pictured works great.  However, I wish there were a way to adjust "snugness" from outside the tire.  Don't ask.   tickedoff

Couple years ago, I was in a bind with a broke valve stem and a bike event to attend...that day. I went to my local Honda dealer and they didnt have what I wanted, so I went down the street to an independent parts/service shop (Harley) and told the well tattooed gentleman behind the counter what I was looking for. He looked at me kinda funny and hollered at somebody in the back...."Have we got anymore of them Jap 90 degree valve stems". A package of two was produced and I was off. Had I not been in a bind, I would have politely told him to stick them up his a$$.  Wink

Hmmm....HD dealer... I have one alot closer then a Honda place. I'm having my tire put on at a HD shop anyway, maybe I'll see if he has any. Theres a guy that has a honda shop out in the county south of me has some for $10 a pc but if I can get them overnighted by patch boy cheaper then I'll go that route.

If you decide to change the stems, you do NOT have to remove the tires or wheels. I large "C" clamp can be used to access the valve stems on an uninflated tire.

If you wanna get yourself really worked up, try installing a new rear tire, get it all buttoned up and two days later find out you have a leaking valve stem!  tickedoff

The time it happened to me, a group of friends arrived at my house ready to ride up to Daytona for Bike Week. Just before we saddled up, I checked the pressure in the rear tire and it was down 10 psi....yup, it was the stem. I set a record that day getting the thing replaced.

I had a front tire mounted today at Bentonville Honda Powersports and I paid 11.42 for one valve stem.  This is in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Does any one know if the valve stems from Patchboy also fit the Wing?  I'm planning to order some and a friend with a Wing is interested, too.

Jammer, If you have never replaced your valve stems, then you don't actualy know how old they are. I almost lost my life because of this. I encourage you to at least check them, look for dryrot cracks, wiggle them and inspect if not just replace. I am speaking from experience and don't wish what I went through on anybody.
