Anyone out there with experience with long trip riding two up with Beetle bags and Corbin seats? Wondering about comfort level for passenger?
Thanks in advance

No beetle bags or really long distance touring lately, but we both like the Corbin saddles. Many people don't care for the Corbin saddles, but I've always found them comfortable for long trips.
We spent an afternoon riding my buddy's GL1800 and was told the Corbin passenger saddle was more comfortable than a stock GL1800 seat . Wind management was much better for the passenger on the GL1800, so was informed she could get used to the 1800 seat pretty quickly!

I dislike all Corbin's cement blocks covered in leather, but it needs to be a real back seat Dual Tour and not just the tail end of a Stinger for your passenger. No knowledge of beetle bags and passenger comfort.

The reason I asked the questions about comfort of passenger is that when you run Beetles, it eliminates being able to go with any other two up seat setup other than Corbin because all other passenger backrests mount with bracket that goes between fender and bags and Beetles are flush with fender. I have seen other bikes where owner has spaced the bags away from fenders to utilize other backrests and this ruins the look of the bike. There is also question of enough room on passenger foot pegs.

Well, if you have a dual tour seat, a corbin backrest should fit in the rear for a passenger, no? Even if a backrest could be fitted to this, and it can't, no one could ride on the tail of this more than a few miles. This is really a solo seat with decorative touch in the back. I suppose it would be possible to customize a standard seat setup (shave the rear seat down on the sides) to make it work with beetle bags mounted tight, but there would still be no passenger backrest. Or you use spacers to move them out. Or you sell the beetle bags & corbin and replace with what works for you.

My point is that in order to furnish a passenger with a backrest (for both safety and comfort), I would have to purchase the dual setup from Corbin. I was asking how comfortable and did they have to install passenger boards. (I think the answer to this is "yes"). I have a good stock driver's seat with driver's backrest and stock pillion but cannot install passenger backrest with Beetles which I am not willing to take off our screw looks up with spacers.

Well, that was my point too (on the dual tour)... all Corbins are hard (esp new ones) and she may or may not like it.
Floorboards are always nicer than pegs, but what she needs is more a function of leg length than anything. The Kury Iso Wings (direct rear peg replacement w adapters) are much cheaper and would work fine if she can reach them.
I'm sorry I have no personal experience with these parts at all, I was just trying to talk options.
Even with the dual tour, you will be limited in how much gear you can carry on a trip... the beetles carry very little and you still end up with no sissy or luggage rack. I don't think you can safely mount one of those big sissy T-bag back packs on the single upright rear backrest.
Not to be a smart ass, but you need to get a 2d bike set up for two to travel, and keep yours the way it is (I like it BTW). It's how I do it, and I won't take a passenger (more than around the block).

I was thinking about taking a female of the opposite sex on a trip to Colorado but, on second thought, I may just tell her to take a bus or not invite her:laugh: I also, have reservations about carrying passengers any further than "around the block". If something happened, I would have a very hard time handling it.

I don't have a problem riding with a passenger aboard..... of course all bikes ride/handle better one-up than two-up. I have just sworn off women for the duration (of my lifetime). And I don't even take dudes around the block. Best of luck.

Dan, I rode to Frisco, CO. for both Inzanes and on the first one the wife flew up to Denver and rented a car and met me at the hotel. On the second Inzane to Frisco, she followed me in my truck. We had a good time.

Wondering about comfort level for passenger? Dan, avoid the possibility of discomfort and buy ah Airhawk for her. Since I bought one for my passengers their comfortable ride-time has doubled.

I have decided to not spend the big bucks for a dual Corbin seat just to haul a passenger occasionally.
Thanks

Wise move............ anyway, if she really wants to go, have her buy the seat (you bought the rest of the bike, and fair is fair).
