I bought a 5000 mile I/S last Fall. Because it sat for so long without being ridden, paint, etc. looked not the best. Got everything cleaned up pretty good, so all is well there.

The windshield had begun to de-laminate around the edges, so I replaced it with a Cee Baileys. I am (was) finally getting around to replacing the plexiglass "visors" that are attached at the bottom of each side of the fairing, as they are scratched and de-laminated also.

Checked HDL tonight.... $74.81 EACH  Shocked  Angry  tickedoff  I have always understood that you sometimes have to pay for the privilege of owning one of these fine machines... but come on?!?! $149.62 for two little pieces of acrylic or whatever they are?!?!

http://www.hdlparts.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=148530&category=Motorcycles&make=HONDA&year=1999&fveh=3473

They will stay de-laminated..... rant over.... thanks.

p.s. Anyone have a decent set lying around?

Shocked Shocked    Wow.   You are not looking thru them anyhow, so why not check out some of the new paints available and just paint em (Rustoleum even has some plastic paints... some look like chrome).

since you have that, then take off what you have and carry it to Lowes and have a new set cut in the plexi-glass department.

I also like the idea of painting them. Have them match the bike...then add a few dragons.  Or go to the paint department and buy that fake etching pearl color and make a nice design around the edges to hide the delam and then keep the middle clear. Or...

Well at least you have options.

Yeah, I had the same reaction when I started to order a pair to replace mine.  I do like the paint idea...I will have to explore that one a bit further.
