I knew that putting my baby outside in the elements was bad for her!

 Now I see on the right side only some flaky, krusty looking formation on the rear head cover piece? Does anyone have a suggestion as to what this is and what to do about it?

 It looks a little whitish almost, and isn't covering the metal, just at the bottom of this part! 

Angry And I thought I kept it clean!!!

Aluminum rust, or salt water corrosion......  Which ever one ya want to call it.

It will polish off if you have the patience....

took me about 45 minutes per side with metal polish and 1500 grit to get it off mine.

My impression is that they were clearcoated (not sure of this) and stuff got under the clear coat,
that's what the crud is...

You can get a nice new chrome set from Big Bike Parts for about $32.

You can get new OEM ones for about $22 each
