Had an odd experience a few days ago.   Rode thru serious rain, and there was some cloud to cloud lightning, I recall nothing close to me cloud to ground, but at one point, the LED readout screen went totally blank.  I freaked, thinking "Holy crap, am I fried?"  Shocked But I knew of course I wasn't cause the bike was running fine.   After about thirty seconds, it woke up, did it's normal wake up behavior, and went back to normal.   Any one else ever had this happen?  Is it possible I ran through some kind of electrical field thing in the storm?   Bman

years ago while headed to Mississippi to Sweet Tea and Punisher's house....Smokin Joe, Britman, Coot, Normandog and I had been riding most of the day in a "frog strangler" and someone told me that it was probably just moisture that had gotten into some of the electrical connections up in the fairing...I have never had it happen since then but was advised to take the connections apart and  spray them with electrical contact cleaner...I guess I will one day.... Undecided

Not being from the south, I'm guessing "frog strangler" is a really humid day???

"cats and dogs"....or as Sweet Tea says...a real "Turd Floater"

We were riding in heavy rain for hours....we supposedly even dodged a tornado or two on that trip down...but I haven't had the display blink out again from rainy conditions..

Any time moisture gets into the radio/Cb controller or the fairing connections to the dash you'll get this until it drys out. Longest for me was 1 hour after hitting dry air after  a  3 hour south Tx monsoon.

Mine has done it also during a real hard rain (several years ago), came back after a few minutes.  It seems that my gas gage was still working though... was pretty frightening thinking about the cost of repair when it happened.

Now, I have to unplug the sirius, the gps and get them dry, by the time I do that, the hard rain is usually gone, or I have had to find a place to hide...!!!!

see ya,
