This might not interest many, but as I pursue "Wierd Texas" I map 2 loops of the Galveston Tree Sculptures.  So you understand, I was snowed in for 2 days this last weekend in Amarillo.

Anyhow, I was planning on riding my Ural from Angleton to Surfside then up the Bluewater Hwy.  I don't go fast but could meet somewhere in Galveston.

Date: Sunday March 3rd. Time: TBD.

If interested let me know.

My route is very simple. I will be taking FM 523 around Angleton to FM 332. Then into Surfside. Then up the Bluewater Hwy to Galvston. I have 2 loops. One starts south on the Bluewater Hwy (12330 Jenkins Rd) and catches about 14.5 miles and I think 12 of the trees. The second starts (the other one finishes) at1823 Ave L by San Jacinto Park. It's about 4.5 miles and probably best done on foot. It gets about 24 of the trees.

As I said the Ural is slow but to me a hoot. Tell me which route and I'll find a spot or we can meet. I'll be rambling from Angleton. Not as fast as your Spyder (which if I remember was hot looking).

I'll probably leave Angleton around 9 ish.

I have never been south of Kema on a bike. I just found out that I will be home alone this weekend and a peek at some trees in Galveston sounds exciting. I googled the galveston sculpturred tree tour and it looks neat. I could come down 288 and be in Angleton at 9. I did the mid winter ride last weekend and don't want to stop the fun.  Let e know of a place we can meet in Angleton.

Ok, Buc-cee's at 9:00 am off Rt 35 & 288. Keep in mind I' m going to be on my Ural. Can get up to 55 with a strong tail wind. I'll offer a stop at The Spot afterwards.

I shrunk the walking part to 3.5 miles.  Longest part is probably 0.6 miles.

It was a great day in Galveston. We walked over 3 miles and viewed numerous historical momuments as well as the sculptured trees.

Thanks Marcus for coming along. We also meet up with Hayhauler at The Spot for burgers and conversation. Till the next time.
