3200 tops in the market around me.  If it had saddlebags, windshield,  rear passenger backrest would go 3500 tops.  Low mileage and new tires though might consider if wanted really bad 3500 tops??  They were a unique cycle design in 87 and 88 do not see much around anymore even less around than the previous mid to low 80's magnas.

I sold my 1984 Honda magna in near that condition in 1997 with around 23k mileage for ONLY 1500 bucks and kick myself in the butt to this day would be worth 2 grand even now.  It had a windshield, hwy. pegs, nice custom backrest with rear hard lockable luggage compartment on rack behind rear backrest,  saddlebags, and hard covered Clymers repair manual,  nice maroon color.   The guy who bought it I still remember he tried lowering my fair offer since it needed a new rear tire and I wasn't going any lower take it or leave it told him.  If he can't come up with 200 bucks for a new rear tire letting it go for 1500 bucks, that would've been his loss.   Still miss that cycle somedays would today be a classic for sure but being 75 lbs. heavier the much larger Valkyrie fits me a lot better now I bet.

Is a nice looking, low mileage Super Magna..... and in surprisingly good condition.  His asking price isn't that high really..... considering he can always negotiate down.... but you can never negotiate up.  He has room to negotiate, so buyer and seller can both feel like they get a good deal.

This is the one I sold to get my Phat Gurl...

1987 Super Magnapowered by Aeva

Didn't have the cash to keep both, and the Super Magna was a bit small for my frame.  I DID really love the styling, though..

interesting, looking at the video i see a lot of things that are on the Valkyrie, such as; turn signals, handlebar ends, fuel tank cap, front forks look a lot alike, rear tail light for liecens plate, break peddle, shifter, break/clutch levers.

Apparently they only made 3300 in 1988 so that bike, in that condition, may be not far off on price. Have considered calling and seeing what the bottom line is on the bike because I am in the market for a 3rd generation Magna. Although this isn't a 3rd Gen it is way cool looking and apparently runs as good as it looks.
My deadline on getting the Magna is one week from today. Am down to a few bikes now.

I really like the solid rear wheel and upswept dual tailpipes on both sides, but if you are looking at carrying a passenger with those pipes not such a good idea, just saying.

Rare bike. Here in Southern California where you can ride year round, you see very few of those. I bet he gets real close to 4K for it. It'd be interesting to keep track of the sale, to see how close he gets. I always thought those Magnas looked way cool. I really liked the upswept exhaust pipes. Looked like "zoomies" on funny cars.  cooldude

Did they make this model in a V65? This one is a V45.

If I remember those were 700 cc/v40, V45 I beleave would be 750cc. There was some type of import tarrif to to help out HD to servive/compete at that time. Honda had the Ohio wing plant at that time.

No V65 in that style.
Well, my Magna viewing for this morning fell through. I was all suited up to head over to Orlando and see a nice 1994 yellow one and the guy called me and backed out of selling it   AGAIN! This is the second time he has done this to me. This one I had super close photos of and it is nice!
This is really getting difficult. Have seen so many bikes lately that the owners claim to be in excellent condition only to find that they look like they have been left on the beach for a month.
Demanding close up photos now and while looking at the Craigslist ads I look at what is in the background. Looks junky then the bike probably is as well. Profiling? Oh hell yes!
There is a gorgeous Red one down in Naples but that is almost 5 hours away....... grrrrr

Yah, too bad they didn't make a 1098cc vs. only a 698cc in the model.  The previous early to mid 80's V65's were super fast except stock at my height of  5'10",  I couldn't touch the ground even close to flat footed only on my tip toes pretty high stock seat height for anyone under 6'.

Don't worry,  one will pop up eventually just have to be patient is all.  Even a few dealerships around me in WI have a few for sale in super magna's 87/88 model but still want near 4K, too much for me for what you get being only 698cc's and 25 year old bike.

I know how you feel about ATV's and cycles listed on craigslist.  Last week I was highly interested in a 650cc Can Am 2-up ATV with ONLY 800 miles and 6 years old.  I asked tons of questions and he said he took GREAT care of it NOTHING wrong with it or nothing been done to it besides oil changes and 1 radiator flush.  I figured with ONLY 800 miles and only 6 years old supposedly ONLY snowplowing driveways what could be that bad?  Well,  I wasted 7 total hours of driving time to head north to see it last Saturday and left without it.  The ATV had a chip off the lower part of rear transfer case behind hitch,  crack and bend outward in the rear fender,  The engine top cover had oil residue all over it and it looked like clean oil but was all over the top and around upper seal (red flag to me), crack in air filter breather tube,  some rust really not too bad could deal with it, and tons and tons of scratches all over the plastic NO WAY only snowplowing had to go thru some serious brush to have that many scratches literally all over the fenders.  Since it was filthy with mud and snow and debris,  I asked when he last cleaned and washed it.  He said he NEVER has washed it once in the 6 years of owning it.  Hey,  at least he was honest on that one.  The pics were not upclose on craigslist and from say 10' away, the ATV looked to be in good shape.  NEVER again will I drive 7 hours and waste 80 bucks in gas and blow an entire day to look at something to buy that someone claims was well taken care of and in good shape.  He even wanted to throw in his snowplow and let me tell you, for ONLY 800 miles of use,  how in the world do you bend a moose plow and bend the top edges of the heavy duty sheet metal of the plow pretty bad?  You can't tell me he did not abuse it and if someone buys it for his price of 5500 bucks,  they got screwed. I guess sucker born every minute.  For 5500 bucks, I expect near flawless condition since that is about my limit on any used 2-up ATV.

No way to mount saddlebags on a super. Keep that in mind.

I wouldn't let the 700cc vs. 750cc bother me. If I remember right, the 700 was actually a tad faster due to higher compression.  And yes, the 700's were the "tariff beaters".  Kawasaki Vulcans were the same way, I had an 85 VN700.

I'm thinking the supers were still 6 speeds like the 1st gen Magnas.

To me the SuperMagna is right in line with the Kaw Eliminator 900. Great looking bikes, look like factory drag bikes.

Although I would like that bike I am really not looking for a Super Magna. Plus, whatever one I end up with with just be a 1 - Up bike.
Am looking for the 3rd generation Magnas. The ones manufactured from 1994-2003. Those are a V4 configuration and 750cc.
That bike is way interesting though................

I'm with Pappy, unless you are in love with the super magna look,  I'd get the newer, next generation honda magna's if for nothing else they are newer and still look sharp.  The magnas, dare I say, have a cult following just like our Valks do. Nice 1-up bikes on the magnas, somewhat cramped for 2-up riding unless both are somewhat skinny (under 200 lbs.) which most of us are not.

LOL...you made me think of once upon a time in 1973 when my best friend and I took a 300 mile road trip on his CL450. It really didnt seemed that cramped and had plenty of power for two-up. Of course both of us probably weighed about 290 lbs total Grin

And the frame did not break?  I told the misses we should go for a cruise on my 250cc scooter I bought late November last year.  She looked at that rear seat about 10" deep and 8"" wide and said I don't think I'd fit.   Near 500lbs. for both of us when I believe the weight capacity is near 400lbs. would make that scoot squeal like a mouse instead of purring like a kitten -  Shocked

haha, I hear you.  Back in the day I had a 81 GS750L and what satisfied with it. Then I was riding with a buddy and we swapped bikes for a while. He had an Eliminator 900. WOW.  That bike impressed the hell outta me.  Needless to say I wasn't so satisfied with my GS after that.

Keep in mind that I don't think they made the 900 for very long and that may result in alot of parts being made of unobtanium if they would be needed.

Pappy and others:

Here is a very nice looking (no affiliation just passing along a good deal) on a very clean sharp looking 750cc magna that has super low mileage.  I just love the looks of it for 1-up riding.

If the wife would let me,  I'd be buying tomorrow since in mint condition and only 30 miles away.
Yah, I know, better to ask forgiveness than permission but I have no room for it now in my stable with 3 ATVs, cycle, and scooter.  Although,  I have been meaning to sell my older ATV for 2700 bucks soon so there would be room then in my stable, well almost, and break even on price.  I might have a guy interested in my ATV this weekend if he buys I may ask the misses permission!

Pappy,  if interested,  I could offer for you 2700 and see if he bites?  Then, we are heading down to Alabama (near Florida) mid June in 2 weeks and could ride it down there about 1,000 miles for you and you could buy it from me?

However, after riding it,  I may want to buy it for myself but the wife would kill me if I did.

Here it is:  http://janesville.craigslist.org/mcy/3830410710.html

sorry I brought it up.  I just emailed him 2-3 hours ago and he replied it sold last night already darn it.

It seems the good ones dirt cheap go by fast if you don't act in 1-2 days, they are sold.

Most dealers around here would want 4 grand for it down to 3800 bucks sold and this was 1 grand cheaper.

Oh well.
