I've read quite a few of you use Lemon Pledge on your Valks.

Lemon Pledge is not available in the UK  Cry I can get it from Amazon for just over $10 per can or I can get a 3 pack from Ebay for $83 including postage.

How much do you pay for it.

I think I'll stick with what I've been using, Carnuba Wax, Autosol and Brasso.

I buy an off brand here for $1 per can. Pledge is usually less than $3 a can around here. It is just Lemon scented furniture polish. You probably have a cheap, local similar product.

We don't use it cause its some great product, we use it cause it's cheap and works pretty well if the bike is already clean (like a quick detail spray wax/cleaner).  I think it's around four dollars a can here, so I sure wouldn't waste any money importing it to the UK.

I bet they have cheap household wood/vinyl/plastic spray cleaners over there that would work about the same.  (furniture polish....not Old English)

Yeah, we get a lemony smell....... and it attracts bees.

Lemon Pledge works on all the surfaces, including the windscreen.  We use a lot of it.

We trudge on.

Yes it is. It works great too. It's the only thing I use on my GoldWing's plastic. I like the orange Pledge myself.....  Cool

Pledge Multi-surface in the blue can works GREAT, doesn't smell like lemons or attract bees and doesn't leave an oily residue that attracts dust.  Been using it for several years and won't use anything else.  Just my .02 - I'm sure others willl have a different opinion...

I've used it off and on for the past 59 years.

When I was riding CHP motors, I used it to give it a quick look see.   Especially if we were to have an inspection of our vehicles.   Otherwise it was a hose, soap and a mitt.   Ya got wet yourself that way.     One of my superior officers gave me the suggestion.

I even used it on our Drag Car to make it nice and shiny.   Didn't make it cut the wind any better, but it sure was pretty right after a spray and wipe job.

I'll bet there is a UK equivalent...this looks promising.......   made by
Johnson   3.05 pounds each or 4.55 US

http://www.clickcleaning.co.uk/supplies/301/pledge-cleaner.aspx

I have used lemon pledge for years and keep a can on the bike... I use it to clean the windshield all the time with a micro fiber cloth..... Never use anything else and no scratches...

I will have to try the All Surface.....

Does pledge or what other spray on, wipe off, product works best for keeping the dust off the cycle?  My all black I/S after ONLY say 1 week of sitting uncovered looks very dusty and dingy from dust collecting on it mostly.

I heard Honda cleaner spray works good but want something cheaper as a quick detail but mostly to keep the dust from collecting on the bike if left uncovered which I do all summer long in my garage.

The Honda brand along with many others work great at keeping the bike clean. I've never used Pledge and never wanted to. There are a LOT of other options at low cost made specifically for the intended purpose.

All the best,

I agree... there are MANY other better and probably less expensive options.  And, from my experiences... the Pledge leaves a slight oily film that actually attracts dust if it is not wiped off completely and thoroughly.   Now, I have used it on my military shoes (Corafram) for a quick clean and polish..... but now I even use Eagle One Nano Wax on my shoes as well as my bike and car/truck.

Regardless of cleaner (I've used them all), for dust I have an old satin king waterbed sheet (which all have the fitted bottoms and flat tops sewn across the foot of the sheet, so it's a big single piece), that throws over and comes off the whole (black) Interstate easily, and cuts way down on the dust and pollen.  The bed's long gone.  Here, dust is not a problem in the winter, in the summer it is.

I've had that sheet since I was first single....... which is many, many moons ago.   Evil

for a number of years i was a lemon pledge guy, recommending it to all my friends.  works good.  attracted yellow jackets and everytime i traveled they were around in the morning when i went out to the bike.

my riding buddy turned me on to this and i like it BETTER.   no yellow jackets, about the same price with online purchase of small quantities and i think it works better.  i am a convert.   cooldude cooldude

+1 on the sheet and the Pledge. You can use it on everything, including the seat and you will not slide out of it like with Armor-All. My local Honda dealer uses it on the showroom bikes.

Interesting thread. My first "real" job was re-finishing antique furniture and we told folks NOT to use pledge, pride or any of those types of furniture polish. They contain silicone and if/when you want to re-finish or re-paint etc, the new finish will "orange peal" baddly. We had hours of extra work on table tops that needed sanding after sanding due to the silicone.
Maybe the formula has changed, but I'd be careful using if you ever plan on a new paint job for your bike.

I thought it was something to do with the lemon in the pledge which made it so good, we can get Pledge Multi surface in the UK, just not the Lemon Flavor (note spelling).

I'll get a can of that next shopping trip.I like to have the Valk shiney. cooldude

lol!  Thanks, PB, but you don't need to take special effort on our account.  We read it both ways.  Why even some of our own American members throw in an extra vowel or two when they're putting on airs.   Wink

Just remember that any product that contains ammonia will screw up your windshield over a period of time.  My I/S needed a new windshield the day I bought it because of years of Windex use.  In fact, the man I purchased it from would not let me leave till he sprayed it down one more time with Windex.  I just smiled and thanked him, then ordered a new windshield when I got it home...Jim Smiley

I emailed Johnson UK who sells the pledge, I was surprised but I actually got a respmce from them.

This product is not manufactured for the UK market and so is not available in this country.

Because the labelling regulations and restrictions on certain substances are different, and vary widely from country to country around the world, we are unable to import the product for sale here without making significant changes to it.

In this respect, I am sorry to disappoint you.

If anyone wonders what the word "respmce" means in my post above. Here is the answer.

It is a British word meaning, the fingers are going too quickly for the brain, and that the operator should proof read before hitting the "submit" button.

It should read responce Grin
