I don't know if it is just me hearing things or what.  I just changed front and back brake pads also.  Rode about 300 miles today wearing a beannie helmet.  I usually wwear a 3/4 helmet.  Anyway around 60 mph and higher I get a buzzing (I checked the bolt behind the radiator) that sounds like crickets but at a steady buzz.  Could it be the new pads?  Only thing is it does not seem to stop of change if I brake.

Any ideas?  I am 350 miles from home now and wondering about turning around or going another 700 miles.

Thanks

cricket sounds normally come from split vacuum lines.

Hello Zeus661,
I had a similar sound out of my bike this past week. It was driving me crazy! Had on a half helmet due to the 98 degree day and heard what I thought was a squeeking noise from the front of my bike. I two thought it was the pads, but didn't stop when brakes were applied. I started putting my hand up by the left turn signal and it stopped! It wasn't a squeek, it was a whistle from air being deflected from the windshield! I'm in the procces of trying to eliminate this whistle. May have to take a bit off the windshield! Check this on your next ride and see if it stops! Don't cost a thing.
Safe riding!       StLRider

If it is a split vacuum hose why is it I can not hear the sound by just twisting the throttle to match 60+ MPH?

Also do you think it is OK to ride another 1000 miles?

As far as I can tell it runs fine.
