So its time to buy a front tire. I'm almost ashamed to admit that this is only the 2nd tire purchase for a bike that I have made. I'm really bad about riding a motorcycle for 10k and selling it with a bald tire...I've done it more than once. Anyway... I know Avon is popular. Cobra or Venom? Mark had the one of them (the "new one") on his bike but now its all salty along with the rest so I don't know if he had it long enough for an honest impression. Cobra is about 30 bucks more from the place I'm going to most likely take it. Metzler I read has some quality issues but they have been resolved? The v-max people swear by Metzlers and I was happy with both grip and wear on my v-max that I had briefly. Any other suggestions are welcome. Andrew

I like the Elite 3 from Dunlop as it has good traction (perhaps not quite as good as Avon) and great mileage wear.

I saw that one as well...wasn't sure as I hadn't seen anyone in person with it. Will take it under advisement. I don't know if I need to mention..I am darksided on the back...if it makes a difference on which tire and the traction vs. wear arguements...

My opinion is that the Avon is the best handling of the bunch, especially if darkside.
Cobra or Venom I can't really help with...except to tell you that the Venom has been discontinued and the Cobra is it's replacement.
I've been running the Venoms...good tire. Hope the Cobra is better and have one in the garage, but haven't run one yet.

I didn't like the orginal Dunlops or the Elite 3's that I replaced them with. I'm running Metzlers front and back rignt now and really like the handling and wear. I'm not a darksider. (yet)

I'm thinking of going with this tire next time. Think it will fit in between the forks? Chuck

Is Metzler still doing the $20 front tire when you buy a rear? -Jeff

I'm running the Avon Venom up front (2nd one) after running 2 Dunflops. My son is running Metzler 880 on his, front and back. He is happy with the Metz and I am happy with the Avon.

I am a Darksider, running a GY Triple Tread. I started out with a Venom on the front. When it came time to change I found the Cobra and tried it out. MAN WHAT A DIFFERENCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will NEVER go back. The combination of the car tire and the Cobra are GREAT!!!!! It made the bike steer like it had power steering. For me, it counters the steering problems that is part of being a Darksider.
Go for the COBRA!

Another vote for Cobra. I run the same combo as Flyboy with the same results. Excellent when paired up. Good traction on wet roads as well as dry. So far the wear seems to compare with the Venom which was much better than Elite 3.

I think I'm going to give the Cobra a whirl. The Honda shop by my house has it cheaper than the "cheapest" place in town way over in stinkadena AND they charge less to install it! thanks all for your input.
