Just finished putting my new sync gauges to use. Adjusted the pilot screws 2.25 out then synced the carbs. 1 3 5 and 6 were really close and 2 and 4 were way out of wack. After waiting for the fan to turn off several times I got all 6 gauges reading the same. Pretty easy job really, the hardest part was adjusting the pilots. Had to take the intake tubes off to get to them. They were a little coroded so I pulled them out and put anti seize on the threads and put them back in. bike does seem to run a little better. Ill get it out soon and find out just how much, as soon as this snow melts.

I have found like you did it seems to be easier to remove the chrome intake to adjust the pilot with the redeye tool but as ive read in the other owners comments next time I go back In to do any work I will be cutting a slot with a hacksaw on each pilot screw to use a flathead screwdriver so I can adjust each one a bit easier and hopefully can leave the boots on after that

It was simple, just waiting for the weather to break so I can get her out. Still have to change the front tire out. might even order some more chrome for it while she sits waiting for warm weather. Last year it wad pushing 85 degrees at this time, and we got several inches of snow last night.

I put some extensions on the pilot screws. Made it easy to get them right Without removing anything. Easy to do it hot that way too. That being said, once I hit them to 2-1/4 Turns she runs great and I doubt I'll ever touch them again.

Got a picture of the "extensions"? Or at least a description of what they are?

Oh yeah. I did a whole photo series. They're just 3/8 tubing inserts (ferrels) for compression connections. They're really light and the brass ones solder on really easily. I filed a notch in them and roughed up the flared edge for a "handle". Worked great. I would be happy to post some pics but can't figure out how to put them inline in the messages... Clicking "insert image" seems to expect an image reference, and I don't know where to put it...

Got out today for a 50 mile run on the bike. That carb sync and pilot adjustment is just what I needed. Runs so much better now. Hoosier jaybird was down visiting his brother and stopped by the house to talk valkyries. Super nice guy, enjoyed visiting with him this morning. But anyway, the bike seems to run smoother and have more power. Didnt get it out on the interstate to check out the 5th gear lugging/fuel starving issue I was having but im pretty sure it is gone. Thanks to everyone for the info and tips

Hey Gavin, glad to hear the carb adjustments helped. Thanks for spending time to show me some of your tips. You have a nice bike and hopefully this summer maybe it will work to ride a little together. I'll be back down to my brothers when it gets warmer, I'll check in with you then. I hope your little boy had fun at the egg hunt. Jaybird.

He had a great time finding those eggs. Let me know when your down this way on the bike, im sure I could get a couple other valk guys to hook up with us. Hwy 135 going from freetown to nashville is a great road for an afternoon ride. Usually stop at the story inn for a break and cold drink.
