Drained the coolant, emptied the reservoir, and refilled. Service manual claims 3.9 US quarts for engine and radiator, 1.1 for reservoir. If my math is correct that totals 5, she seems full at about 3.5, can't get her to burp. Is she really full? Undecided Didn't think to measure what I drained out before I dumped it.

The total with a reservoir cleanout is 1.1 gal. Burping is just a matter of filling as best you can and make sure the reservoir is up the high mark and drive it. After a couple of warmups and cooldowns, the air will burp itself. At 3.9 Gal fillup, you probably have it full. There are a few small pockets in the engine that don't completely drain.

I've drained and re-filled a couple of times and have never gotten more than 3.5-4 quarts in.

per the manual, let the bike idle with the radiator cap off for about 2-3 minutes, then blip the throttle a couple of times.  You'll see the bubble if it burps.

I've changed mine 4 or 5 times and 3 -/2 Qts is about the most it ever takes.  I think the 4 Qt volume is following complete motor disassembly.  You can't drain everything out through the drain plug.

You'll be fine.

Yes, I read that procedure, tried it a couple times, only got a few small bubbles. Didn't want to run it very long if I had a big air lock. But it sounds like 3 1/2 US quarts fulls them up. cooldude

Thanks
