The Big Galoot, Jerry Hotchkiss, died of a heart attack while at work on Tuesday.
Many of you are fortunate enough to have known Jerry much longer than I did, but in my brief five years astride a motorcycle, I haven't encountered a fairer, friendlier gentleman than he.
An Iron Butt tourer to the very end, I exchanged emails with Jerry the day before he died as he planned and organized this May's Second Annual Crazy Basterds Rendezvous in the North Carolina mountains he loved to ride.

Jerry's funeral service will be this Saturday, 3/30/13, at 1 p.m. The location is
 Lohman Funeral Home Deltona
 1681 Providence Blvd.
 Deltona, FL 32725
 (386) 860-5900

Hope some of you will be there ...

GOD BLESS YOU, GALOOT.

like most of us, he was not a crowd follower and did his own thing.  Our grandson is here this week and remembered Jerry coming here once to do a carb sync on his Valkyrie when he had it.  He moved on to a Gold Wing and as TJ said he was an Iron Butt rider and thought nothing of riding thousands of miles.  I last saw Jerry in Daytona last year at the Triumph shop, he was out riding with some of his long distance friends.  He will be missed, Rest in peace my friend.
