Given that the IS tank is taller at the rear there will be fitment issues with the front of the std. seat.
Those who have put IS tanks on std.'s and Tourers have had to force the seat to fit.
It can be done but the seat will show wrinkling where it goes up on the tank.
I think there were posts with pictures if you were to try a search.

Just A little tight at the Tank on my I/S, but no issues getting it on and off...
Mine is a pre 2000 .... But alot of people have used it for the Super Valk.... actuallly I think most do...
I plan on ordering a new... 2000 and up from HDL soon, as I tried to modify the old seat and its sbetter , but most say the newer seats are much better... there like $85 +shipping.....

Way back when, I took off the latch on the bottom of the seat and added a couple washers between the seat and latch. I had no problem with nose wrinkle.

I have an early standard seat on my IS. Both driver and passenger.
They fit perfectly with no issues at all.
I made no changes whatsoever to the seats or mountings.i
No one can tell that it was not stock.
I also mounted a standard backrest and luggage rack after removing the trunk, swapping the chrome fender extensions and parts of the standard wiring harness and a standard tail light.
Makes the IS look, ride and handle right. Go for it.
