If it hit when you installed it, then I would say there's no correction but a smaller tire. If it did not hit when you installed it but hits now, I would suggest more air pressure in the tire.  The tire and swing-arm move together so passenger or no, there should be no difference with that regard.

I think FLAJim and a few others are using this tire with no reported problems.  Maybe one of them will chime in.

i'm running it on a 2kI/S. i also suffer from the f/a syndrome, ride two up a lot. i smell rubber only on right hand turns(at speed). can't see where its rubbing on the tire though. when i put the tire on there was no plastic spacer on the hub, i made one out of a milk jug. possibly too thin letting the tire move to the right some? still trying to figure it out. good luck.

I have this excact tire on my I/S, I get a very slight squeak from the tire hitting the right side of the swing arm. This only happens when riding 2 up while hitting a bump on a slow left turn. I run the tire at 40psi. I have had this tire on for about 1000 miles. After being very hesitant about putting a car tire on the Valk, I now feel I made right choice. It sticks like glue, is very quiet and corners better than the Avons I had on, in fact I never felt comfortable leaning the bike over very far and now (much to the chagrin of my SO) I find myself dragging the foot pegs. Last week while it was raining (hard) I took the bike out and did some panic stops and fast turns and was really suprised how much better this tire is than what I had on. Last week I put a Avon cobra on the front and am very happy with it.

Think I was the first to run a Hydroedge, mine is a 215/60/17 on a RC custom billet wheel.  It took extnsive mods to cram that thing in there.  Gotta say though cant beat the traction and handling.   Next time you have th tire off there is a very simple way to gain a little extra space between the tire and driveshaft tube.  On the inside of the tube where it is indentented, there is a two piece doubler, top and bottom that can be removed with no ill effect.  These are welded in with a gap between them down the centerline.   Easy to cut out without damaging the driveshaft tube.  You will gain almost 1/4 in of space doing this.  On mine I did this plus I narrowed the tube in that area.

Nope no rubbing on my driveshaft. Running 32 psi and loving the ride, have about 10k on it now. My FA is about 250 currently and have had the wife along for several rides without a problem. I did have a initial problem running 11.5 inch 418 (sent by mistake) shocks that bottomed out on hard bumps. But after much debating with progressive over what I had sent in to be rebuilt (13") they decided I must have meant 12.5"  and sent me a brand new set. These have worked as well as the afore mentioned 13" so all is forgiven.

Headed to back to Sears and Hydroedge was a special order 3 days to get.. So I headed over to the local Goodyear store and picked up Goodyear triple tread for $130 .. Seems the balls so far.. It's  going to take a few miles to get used to the darkside .. Started @ 35 PSI .. Pics @ http://venwish.com/darkside.htm

Mine has not hit.  I cannot fit a credit card in the space, but no sign of the Hydroedge ever hitting.
