2014 Valkyrie 1800

Seminole, Florida

« on: March 31, 2013, 03:08:43 PM »

Seems from talking with everyone yesterday that most would like to meet more often. Someone  mentioned Chiefland BBQ, another mentioned Luigi's, several others mentioned putting meet/rides together in their areas.
I remember another place SilverFox took me was Papa Joe's in Brooksville. (It's all indoor) but they had a great menu with exceptional food and sandwiches, will handle large groups. Good location for most and some of Florida's best riding close by
Another I was thinking of for those that would like to see the "new" John's Pass before the summer heat gets here is Gators on the Pass, motorcycle friendly indoor/outdoor and I would take those interested on a 1 hour 15 min. beach cruise. Leave Johns Pass after eating and head South to the Historic Don Cesar and then back up the the Clearwater beach circle and Gulf to Bay Highway 60 bridge where we could part ways and head home.
Several have mentioned rides South of the Skyway.
If you have ideas, post them with links, dates and times. Riding season is here cooldude

All great ideas Doug.
Brooksville & St. Pete would be homecomings for me, know them both very well.
Born & half raised in St. Pete age 0-14, second half raised, graduated HS, married then divorced in Brooksville age 14-30, before making it up to the frozen tundra of Silver Springs-Ocala Marion County. age 30-55.  Grin  Cool
God willing I'll be able to make it down TJ's way.... WHERE IT'S WARMER!!!!!

Suggestion, we used to meet fairly regularly at Luigi's for breakfast. Would like to see that started again.  Last time we met there Seal Skinner and Charlie the Sculptor were there, gives an idea how long it has been since we met there. They serve a good breakfast and prices are OK. And that could be a weekday for a lot of us retired  folks.

Another one On Q Smokehouse Grill in St Leo, we ate there a while back, Doug I think this was a place you found. BBQ was great.

Another place farther south, Linger Longer Lodge, east of Sarasota, fl

Life is like a hot bath. It feels good while you’re in it, but the longer you stay in, the more wrinkled you get.

Never heard of the Linger Lodge but I have no problem eating while the critters are staring back at me.

It is rather unique, every kind of animal stuffed and mounted some where, the front sign is made from stuffed snakes.  It is right on the edge of Sarasota, but the way it is located, you would swear you were out in the woods.

Somebody mentioned "Snook Haven"
Don't know anything about it but it made my mouth water so it can't be all bad!

Here's the Snook Haven web site.    http://www.snookhaven.com/
The calendar as of this posting is March, I'm sure it will be updated. Snook Haven does sit on the river, havn't been down there for a couple of years. Back then you did ride on an unimproved road about 100 yards; I'd have a kickstand puck in my bag unless they have paved the parking by now. It was pretty much an outdoor with some covered area's, music was always listen-able. Don't remember the food but I'm sure I have eaten there.
Another question might be to get an idea of how far riders would consider reasonable for a day lunch ride.

Like i always say i love to see more of these get togethers... Johns Pass and the Beach ride sounds good to me, snook haven  which i dont know where that is sounds interesting as long as we can all get together more often , James have a valid point in considering a half way meeting for most of the valk riders to get to will encourage better show factor and greater turnout. i'm sure we can work things  and figure it out.

Anything from Tampa to the south is an easy enough ride for me for a lunch time meet and greet. North of Tampa starts cutting into my breakfast time Grin Won't be able to make it this Sat. as I have a previous commitment to join a local charity ride but after that is good.
