I purchased a used exhaust locally for a 97 Tourer. The small pipes at the tip have been cut off (
i think they are referred to as "piggies"). The exhaust it louder than
i want. Can I weld some pipe on the ends to restore the factory sound?

Thanks

I've heard water pipe can be used ( Never done this )  ...Make sure you get them shaped so the tips will fit back on.

I had the same problem when I got my 97. I started out with earplugs and finally ended up with
a nice set of OEM pipes. Along the way I was sent a set of cut-off piggies from a fellow VRCC
member... I could send them to you if you want to try to reattach them. The water pipe idea
might be easier... here's hoping that the previous owner left enough piggy-stubs to work
with and that he didn't do a bunch of drilling...

where the piggies come out.  Lots of folks cut the piggies and drill the last can through the piggie outlet.  If that has been done, you won't accomplish much by adding the piggies back on.  If not, then you might help some.  I have seen others that used copper pipe unions and copper extensions.  Can't remember if they used screws to attach them or not.

I had a local welder weld extensions back on and then installed a 4" truck stack. Looked good I thought.

mat4- I have a set of piggies that I don't need. P.M. me your address & I'll send them to you if you want them. I made glasspack exhaust for my '97 Tourer a couple of years ago. I think I bundled them together & labeled them LH/RH.

You are welcome to them! cooldude
