Hello, I'm a noobie here, just bought my 2001 Valk on Saturday. I have a bike lift that works just fine for my Suzuki Boulevard C50 805cc. Why do you need an adaptor for a Valk? Why can't you just use an ordinary bike jack by itself?

Look up towards the top of the page. See these words they are links click on "Shoptalk."

There you will find an artical on Lift Adaptors or click the link below.

The adaptor makes contact with parts of the Valkyrie that gives the most support and holds the weight safely protecting the exhaust and the person working on the bike. The bike should also be strapped down for wrenching they are tipsy once lifted.

With the adapter the bike will be better balanced. If you just use the engine with a block of wood to keep the lift from hitting the pipes, the bike will tend to tilt to the rear. I have done this long before buying a lift adapter. Just be safe. I recommend you use the stop dogs on the lift or something wedged under the lift arms to keep it from slowly dropping should the release valve leak thru. Never ever trust a hydraulic jack by itself.

Homer simpson here.  I don't understand how this, 'new nad improved" adapter mounts permanently vs the original (that appears to placed in the same area)?  i got that red one that supports the cross member and a piece of angel at teh side stand, while "L" bolts go into the side cases?  Don't know if i would trust that to stay on over a period of time

what am i missing?

If you leave the red one on and head out for a brisk
ride in the mountains, the red one will fall off in a turn
and kill you (or, if you're like me, it will just fall off when
you come to a stop and scare the bejezus out of you)...

The black one's less obtrusive, and is permanently
attached so as not to fall off and kill you.

The red adapter does mount with the two L-Bolts. Covers entire engine btm. and jack arms. BUT is to be removed with each use. Not left on.
The mounted adapter bolts on with existing kickstand bolts. Is a permanent fixture to be left on.
Either is needed and can be used with any m/c jack. Which have the two arms that raise.

I can't believe some of you left the red one your bike unless you just forgot to remove it. I had to modify the red unit to move the washer and nut up by removing some of the steel and shortening the "L" shape bolts. I found my Sears ATV/motorcycle lift worked best with the right side lift arm placed right at that spot. So now there is nothing in the way for the lift.

The red unit can be a pain in the butt sometimes. I have a few ideas to make this easier but have yet to try them. I am looking for suggestions on how to hold the adapter in place tight against the side stand cross member. Anyone have any?
