To all those who contribute to keeping our gurls running the way they should. I would have never tried to do this type of maintenance just leaving it to the stealer. As I watch others today riding by I am making sure I am going to have another great year.

Built the adapter for my jack from the directions on this board and got the lady up in the air. Pulled the pipes cause I think I have a leak, then removed the rear wheel and pumpkin using Chris's Powerpoint.

Cleaned everything, looks just like she was just born.

Another board find was sharpening a small flathead screwdriver to pop the old exhaust gaskets out. worked like a charm, also found carbon out to the edge of one exhause port, figure that was where my leak was. Tomorrow it all goes back together, new exhaust gaskets, new o-rings (all 3), grease where grease needs to go, moly where moly needs to go, dampers look good, brakes are fine, remember to tighten the pumpkin after the axle, then just wait till the weather turns.

Lot of dealers have young wrenches that have seen a picture of our Phatt Ghurls.  crazy2 As to actually wurkin on one-not so much.  uglystupid2 And on the reinstall just follow the sequence as it's layed out and you should be back in the wind before ya knows it.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

Dagwood, my bike was in a similar state of disassembly just 3 days ago. But I'm way ahead of schedule. Usually, I'm doing that stuff 4 days before Inzane.

I commend you for doing your own work. The hardest part is doing it the first time. But the satisfaction of knowing that you did it and it's done right is immeasurable.

Good work Dagwood,, nothing like handling and assembling the pieces yourself,,  then you KNOW what you have.  Those splines do make me wonder if you used a drill on the spedo cable to get those 32K miles....  HA  ....

+1 Dagwood. The knowledge and help here is top notch  especially with the only connection for many of us being the Valkyrie.  Especially nice knowing that at this point a lot of the motorcycle techs were still in high school or lower when the Valk went out of production.  I for one do not get warm fuzzy feelings when I go to the dealer and have to argue with the parts monkey that the Valk was made by HONDA and it is different from  the Vulcan made by Kawasaki, only to then have him ask me what size motor it has..... tickedoff

+1 on all the help that this board has. I think I am good backyard mechanic, but it sure helps researching this forum first. Thank You.  cooldude
