Un hooked it last week when I put in a different bolt for the spring. I now have the wires laying up by the battery box. I was wondering where they hook up to. Is it possible to unhook them from the main source some how?

It's tied into the same circuit as the clutch switch which also ties into the starter switch. I had though about unhooking mine but have seen someone start their bike and try and take off with the kickstand down. It wasn't nice when everything stopped. Messed up the bike and the guy also. I can't remember if it's n/o or n/c at present. I think n/o until you put the kickstand up. You can either unplug it or tie the wires together to bypass the switch. There are 3 wires. I would think you can take and leave one wire disconnected and it will crank no matter where the kickstand is. Me personnally I would leave it connected for safety.

it's a plug behind all the sensors. If you move them out of the way (take them off their rubber mounts) you can unplug the harness and remove the switch. I ended up replacing mine a few years ago.
Make sure you pay very good attention to how the sensors all go back in place. It took me a while to figure out the jigsaw puzzle when re-installing everything. They only seem to fit in one orientation. Also, make sure the bank angle sensor is put back in it's proper orientation or you'll have a bike that won't start. You can do this all from behind the LH side cover as long as you don't have the engine hanger chrome in the way.
