Just got back from vacation and am hoping for a "Job Completed" response. I know that alt. was not cooperating the last time we talked. Let us know how you are doing. p.s. @RJ I got that email address when I got my Valk., 1 of 4 accounts I have, I just use it for special occasions. Starting to use it more with the new ?Smart? Phone, not a big Gmail fan, but it is ok for the mobile devices.

I'll try to add a (preferred) on it in my email acct. I have 4 of them also. 1 for personal 1 for family 1 for Internet purchases 1 for Spammers.

Not good I took a few days off to finish up on the bike when we found out the basement wasnt water tight. Spent most of the time I had off attempting to keep mother nature from turning it into a below ground pool. Still having issues trying to get the alternator back into place and wishing I had remembered to install it on to the new motor before we had it in place. Other than that it's just bolt the carbs, tank, side pannels, fill the radiator install the battery and hopefully she'll fire up. Oh also ended up salvaging the water pump off of my old motor due to corrosion. Pinwall is none to carefull when it comes to stripping the motors out there were several snapped off bolts to deal with along with missing exhaust studs.

It is the little things that kill ya on an engine swap.
Later ya always say, why didn't I put that on before installation.

I might be wrong, but I thought they had to have an overnight slow charge also.
As usual. I'm probably wrong.
Where did you get it, if local call and ask them if it needs charged and if yes, how to do it.

Battery was dead . least of my problems however. One of my carb floats is still sticking so I'm going to bite the bullet and have them rebuilt. Also found a water leak I need to fix. Anyone know a good carb guy?

Get a can of Seafoam, put the whole damn can into a full tank of gas.
Shake the bike so as to help mix the solution.
Ride it around under 2,000 RPM, for a couple of miles. That sticky float one, if ta have to tap it with a big screw driver. Bring it home, park it and shut it off.
If possible park it standing as tall as possible. Let it set for a good 24 hours.
Then take it out and run her in the higher RPM's for awhile. That mixture should fix the sticky float. If not, give it another shot of SeaFoam, or Texron ar anything else along that line. No need to pull the carbs if this will tke care of it.
Usually every spring when I bring MGM out of winter storage, been parked all winter with a big snort of SeaFoam in it, one float will stick. We smack it hard with the screw driver and proceed to do what I just told ya above. 242K miles on the old bastard and the carbs have not been pulled, except to replace 'O' rings and etc.

RJ I have to pull the carbs anyway to get to the leak, Its around the thermostat. Will flip them overtake the tops and bottoms off and hose the snot out of them with carb clean If all of the floats seem to be moving ok then I'll put them back in with some Marvels Mystery oil in the tank and see if that gets them moving correctly.

No unfortunately it seems as soon as I fix one problem another crops up. The motor turns but no spark, the general consensus is that the new gel cell is faulty so I plan to take it back to Oreilly's tomorrow and have them test it. This project has stretched my pocketbook and patience to the breaking point. I can litterally feel my hair getting thinner by the day. LOL

The colored wire(not Black) will go to the green post. The black will always go to the uncolored post on the coils. Have you got her running yet keep us updated. David

Getting ready to box it up and take it to the dealership to see if they can figure it out. This is obviously beyond my skill level. She's still spinning but 0 fire.

Before ya box it up, do me a favor. Under the right side cover is a big black boot. It covers up a connection under there. Pull the cover back and see if it is burned and or possibly severly corroded. If it is, order this part from Honda. Before installing, change the big red wire to the currently open slot. This kit is from an old Gold Wing. The pictures are from my bike when it no fire. My driving lights without a relay did this. Let me know if you need this part.

From your post, ya got her this morning from Van Wall.
Does she actually run like a scalded dog?
Hope to see ya on the road somewhere in the area.
Side safe.........
Don't pull a stunt like I did last Saturday morning. Was 1/2 awake and rolled over to get up out of bed. Opps, I was too close to the edge when I rolled over. Fell out of bed and bust the big toe socket. Got an appt with a foot ortho Thursday to see if I have to have any screws put in my foot. Hope not as that would be more metal I'd have to explain at the Airport Security.

Picked her up this morning, she started right up and idles smoothly. I didnt have time to hang the crome covers back on her yet or take her out and open it up but did ride around town for a little bit. Will get everything buttoned up and put the pods back on in the morning when I get off work. Will try to get a nap but dont think I will be able to sleep untill I have given her a good shake down run around Red Rock and if that goes well may head around Rathburn as well just to get my sea legs back so to speak. It has been a loooooooooonnnnnggggg wait to get to this point and I am chomping at the bit to get out and let the dragon roar. I have to admit I about burst into tears when she fired up on the first revolution today and purred like a happy kitten again. Thanks to everyone who lended a hand an opinion or moral support in this project. For now I am a happy man, now the time has come to get the Ultimate big boy seat.

This sounds stupid but it works.
The radiator on my Chevy Trike got a rock or something into one of the tubes.
I went to the Grocery store and bought on of those little shakers full of pepper.
Took the cap off and poured about 1/2 of it in the radiator. Put the cap back on and started it up. The leak stopped and hasn't leaked again in just under 9 years.
Pepper will plug the hole as it does NOT melt.
Give it a shot and see if it works for ya. If not, then you might as well look for a used radiator and you will be taking a chance it will leak.
So for like $.59 you can buy that pepper in a shaker like you would take on a picnic.

She's going back to Van Wall in the morning, Carbs need to be synced and I havent been able to quell the leak and it keeps getting worse. Good news is it doesnt seem to be the radiator bad news is it seems to be coming from the thermostat housing. I just yanked the housing off of the old motor in case the one in the bike is cracked. But going to have the tech do the job just to be on the safe side.
