The Texas Hill Country Ride-In will be October 18.19. and 20 of this year.  That's a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  We will be staying at the Peach Tree Inn again this year (yes, that's the place we went to last year, with the little grassy area in the middle for our evening bull sessions).
This is one week later than our normal weekend.  The Harvest Classic Motorcycle Show (http://www.harvestclassic.org/) is that weekend as well.  For those who aren't familiar with it, it's a vintage motorcycle show in Lukenbach.  We can incorporate a stop in Lukenbach into one or more of the "official" rides if that's desired by the group.
I'm sure the show will generate some extra demand for rooms.  However, we have a block of 25 rooms set aside for us.
Rates:
Single queen:  79
Single king:  89
Deluxe king:  99  (includes a sofa, some of these are sleeper sofas)
Two double beds:  89
Two queens:  99
Suite:  129  (The suite has a second room with a sleeper sofa.).

Ask for a room in the block of rooms for the Texas VRCC.  She also has my name (Mark Stovall) attached to the block.

Go book rooms, make vacation plans.  We always have a grand time, so if you're a regular, come back.  If you've never been to one, come see what all the fun is about.

The rate information I was given earlier was incorrect.  I have edited the post above to reflect the correct rates.  We ARE getting a discount on these.  It's ~20 or 30 bucks per night, dependant upon which room you end up getting.

Shirts are TBD.  Is there enough interest to justify looking into this?

I am sorry to say that it appears you guys will have to suffer through my attendance yet again.

The room is booked... but I want to hold off on the T-Shirt thingy and see if I can talk Carrie into coming along.

Also... last year the visit to The Alamo Springs Cafe met with wildly varying reviews.  then on Saturday, we sort of scampered together a pretty danged good evening meal at the last minute.  I enjoyed that FAR more than the restaurant.

I want whoever is running this shin-dig to know that I am willing to help.

Let me know what I can do...

We spent a few days in Medina this Jan.  Spent a day in Fredricksburg too.  We liked the Lady Bird Johnson Park by the airport, and hope to stay there a while this next winter.

Great riding in the area!

You all have fun!

Thanks, Mark!   cooldude

BTW and just in case, I booked Thursday night, too.  It sure would be nice to make the ride down after work Thursday and have all day Friday to knock around Fredericksburg... Cool

That was such a great idea, I changed our reservation!  We will probably visit the Nimitz museum and probably a bit of shopping unless I can get out of it.

All I was in Fredericksburg last weekend with a bunch of my old college buddies.  You might want to check out Street Dreams.  Lot's of nice eye candy.

Hey ever-body...

Are we gonna do shirts this year?  I thought that one last year look pretty danged good.  I am good with a white t-shirt and a Marks-A-Lot.  I'm sure they'd turn out real purty!  Also if shirts aren't on the burner... my sister has one of those machines than can make patches, which usually run about $15 ea.  The cool this is that she's willing to do very limited runs.

Also... the offer still stands on helping out with food and that sort of pookie...

And finally... anyone interested in trying to make it out to ride the Twisted Sisters on that Saturday?

(Sorry for being blabby... I am just bored at work.)

Hey Travis, Misty and I make a sisters run every year, last year we went by ourselves.  The issue with riding with me in those areas is I carry my camera and make lots of photo op stops.

I want to ride along... might not stop every time you do... but hey, that's cool!

I find I stop more when I am exploring alone.  I love that!  That is one of my primary attractions to MC touring.

<!--Insert sound byte from "The Sound Of Music" here!  "Climb every mountain, ford every stream..."-->

The problem is that for me... the "Sisters" aren't really "exploring" for me.  One of the drawbacks of living at the very doorstep of the hill country is, almost every rider in Texas wants to come here.  Which makes it hard to get almost anyone interested in going anywhere else.

Oddly, I am steering the fall ride for the Horned Toads toward Nacogdoches... east Texas... just because it is something different... something I haven't really seen much of lately.

But... if we are gonna overnight in F'burg... I say the Sisters are just too close to ignore.

There will probably be a group that will head down to the 3 Sisters from Fredericksburg, but the reason it's not a main destination is that it will take 2½ hours of your riding time to and from there from ground zero.  That's the trip to 336, the nearest of the Sisters and back.

As many of the riders have been those routes multiple times, there are some who desire to find new vistas closer to Fredericksburg.  Including Fredericksburg.

But I am positive that some will want to go to the 3 sisters so just keep an ear out for that group.

Last year we had a lot of different groups going a lot of different directions.  I thought it was great, since everyone could find what they were wanting to do, and if they didn't find it, they started their own group (one bike is still a group, I suppose...)

I'm sure we'll do a lot of the same this year.

Been out of pocket for a while. Had some surgery uglystupid2, moved, kids moving out Grin....all kinds of life changes. Last year's Hill Country Ride-in was a blast cooldude, met lots of cool and some very interesting people. Didn't get to stay with the group so was a little out of it. This year we've booked a suite located across the street so Trish and I are in!!

Is there an agenda of some kind for that w/e?

I'll probably be there with another group for the Harvest Classic, will go up Sat and stay till Sunday. The others will probably camp at the rally but I'm not into the camping bit so we (wife and I) will get a room somewhere.
Would be good to put faces to names if we can work it out.

Speaking unofficially here... probably nothing set in stone.

Likely though...

Friday evening we will probably go out for dinner somewhere.

Saturday I know some will probably go to the Harvest Classic for a while before and or after a small ride ( I would be willing to volunteer as a ride leader if needed).  Others might group up for a longer ride in the area, and some may even venture to the Three Sisters.

Saturday night I think the plan is to have a BBQ type dinner, dogs and burgers and such, at the hotel so we can all just hang out and "socialize".

Sunday morning is more of a free for all.  Though likely a group will go out for breakfast somewhere before heading homeward.
