I have procrastinated to the point that all the rooms are booked. Last year I got lucky and got my room two weeks before. What is our alternate hotel plans? The town is booking fast due to the other clubs going that weekend. I may even consider taking my tent and squatting somewhere.

Another year and I wish I could come back down home.
We are going to be down between semesters looking for property to retire on in the Fredericksburg, Kerrville, Medina area.  Spent a lot of time at my Grandparents in Medina when I was growing up. Haven't been back since Granddad passed in '80 and the family sold their place.  Wish they hadn't sold out, I would love to have it now.
Have to get a t-shirt for support and to cry in while the bunch of ya'll are out having fun.

Its official. This Detroit boy is making the trip down. Plan on leaving on the 12th, spending some time in Nashville, then riding down the Natchez Trace and then west to The Hill country.  Family up in Coppell to stop in on an the way back. Looking forward to a great ride. Any suggestions/ recommendations on roads to ride on the way over will, of course be appreciated.
Btw, I would love one of those shirts. Will there be some extras on site for sale?

I don't think there are any extra shirts available.  I expect that you can put in another order, just not sure when it would arrive.

Glad you can make it.  We'll be happy to get to know you.  Your route sounds great.  I've taken the Trace many times, and as long as I'm in the right  sort of "sit back and relax" sort of mood, I've enjoyed it thoroughly.  As for getting from Natchez over to Fredericksburg:
If you have enough time, I would recommend this:
http://goo.gl/maps/FaZ7o
There may be some modifications that some folks might suggest, but I've taken most of these roads, and they're nice country roads that avoid the freeway, but don't necessarily take forever to get through.

Alternatively, you could take the coast road, but I know less of these personally:

Or this one.

Thanks Mark, I didn't know why it wasn't working. See, you can teach an old dog something. I have also ridden the Trace, quite nice, watch out for those Trace Rangers should you become a little impatient with that 50 MPH speed limit.

If you are riding  and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.

Eli:  Google maps is a little funky.  The link you sent only shows a generic map.  You need to click the link button immediately to the left of the map area to generate a link to the route you have laid out.

How do we get our shirts?
Marcus

That's a good question.  Are they all going to be sent to the hotel like was stated earlier?
The closer to the date it's getting the more it looks as if I'm not going to be able to make it, maybe.
If I can't, how can I get my shirts?

I have requested that Oz send me a list of everyone who bought a shirt, what they bought, etc so that I have a list to use in Fredericksburg.  The shirts will be shipped directly to the Peach Tree Inn.  I will set a time on Friday and Saturday to pick up your shirts if you are there.  Any shirts not picked up will be brought back to Arlington and I'll mail them from my office to anyone who did not pick theirs up.

I don't know any easier way to do this.  I anticipate shirt pickup will be between 6 and 8pm on Friday, 6-7am on Saturday or something like that.  I'll post a separate topic once I decide.

I haven't and don't plan to. This weekend had it raining all day Saturday and Sunday. Then it changed to 20% chance Saturday and 50% chance Sunday. No rain outs for any events today. Now that % is going down for Sunday . Any forecast 7 days out is pretty unreliable.

I am going in either case.

NOAA long range forecast for the Fredericksburg area predicts -- and I quote, "Likely chance of merriment with a high probability of Hill Country riding bliss!"

Sounds good to me! Wink

Here's a little bit of Hill Country from last year's Ride In...

Looking forward to seeing everybody!

Actually, the casual/relaxed group went a different direction, so they did not pass the photographer.
It was a very good time.  Sorry you couldn't join us.

Thanks to everyone who worked on and attended the Ride-In!  It was a great time.  It was cold at night, but the days were perfect.

In 798 miles the only rain I hit was in Denton & Tarrant counties on the way down.  Thank you, RainMaker!
