Re. Rita and the new washing machine we had delivered this morning. I walked by the laundry room and saw her standing on a stool, reaching deep inside it for something. I swear, if she had fallen in I wouldn't find her until I went to do some washing. I asked what's going on....her complaint; the damn tub's too big and deep and I can't reach the bottom for the little stuff. Told her I didn't think they would accept that as an excuse for returning it.  Grin

Life certainly is "interesting" around here at times.

My mom loved her 'grabber'  Wink

Seriously, it works quite well, and she used it for reaching things in upper cabinets too.

Are you kidding? She can't be trusted with one, she even used one on me in the store one time. I wasn't watching and suddenly felt something grab my butt. Guess who! She had taken one off the shelf in a hardware store and just had to try it out.  Wink

Maybe call them and tell them this one won't work and you want to trade for a front loader.  That way she can put you in there and watch you make faces as you go round.  Smiley

Actually it replaced a front loader. Was 14 yrs. old and ran great, but smelled awful and the clothes did too. All kinds of mold on the door seal, couldn't get it all off and couldn't prevent it. Was a real expensive Maytag too, but we both hated it the last couple years. Bought a new GE top loader with a SS tub, 3.9 cu. ft. so it will work for us just fine. But the tub is quite deep and when I walked past all I could see was her butt and feet up in the air while she was trying to reach the bottom for some clothes. Strange....I thought it was amusing, but I was the only one that did at that particular moment.  Cheesy

The solution is simple John.     You do all the laundry.

We bought State-of-the-art Whirlpool front loader and matching dryer about 4-5 years ago. Used to get a car for less money. We found that we had to wipe the seal dry after use, and then made a spacer to keep the door from closing all the way. So far, no mold or odors. But... we have had to replace the main CPU board (Yup-A CPU in a Washer!!!!) twice now for $350 a whack.

How much water and electricity will I have to save to make up for that shortfall?  tickedoff Angry Cry

Jeff, it wouldn't change anything, I already do the majority of it anyway. She's doing some better, not very strong but don't think she ever will be again. Has Home Health Care and phys. therapy coming in about three times a week and even though she complains, it does seem to be helping some.

You need to come by and see the mess in the garage.  Undecided

Ditto for us in FL. We bought an almost new top load washer, and matching dryer for less than one CPU board cost for the Whirlpool washer. Angry

But hey, I'm saving the environment with my low water usage washer, right? Roll Eyes

Eddie: Huh, I just realized that my answer never showed up. What I had said was: Ditto for us in FL. We bought an almost new top load washer, and matching dryer for less than one CPU board cost for the Whirlpool washer.

I just had my 10 year old top loading Whirlpool Rebuilt. The guy put in a used transmission and a new coupling. It works like new now for $140.00. I will see if I can get another 10 years out of it. I like the Old Stuff because it is not computer controlled, which means Big Bucks to replace parts, these days.
