My new to me IS got caught out in a hard rain and when I got home the trunk had a lot of water. It doesn't looked like it's been wrecked but the gap where the lid meet looks a little wide...as in 1/4" gap. The rubber seals look good. Is there a way to adjust it or s this normal? Undecided

Been in the rain and I've washed the thing a few times. Always dry in the bags and trunk after washing or caught out in the rain. Don't know about adjusting the hinges-seems to me like they should adjust. RIDE SAFE.

Again, don't know about adjusting because I never had to. Mine have been deluged and hosed down many times without a leak so there must be a fix.

Your pic shows a std, so I don't know if your trunk has a rack or not? Mine did and the rubber feet was rotted and this is where the leak came from, or at least, after replcing them with plumbing faucet washers, there was no more water in my trunk.

No leaking on mine so far, so leaking's not the norm.

The only part that will adjust is the latch. The hook for the latch will adjust up and down. There is no adjustment for the hinge area cooldude

That seal is usually glued down..... did someone take it out and is it loose somewhere around it?

Mine has never leaked a drop, even when I wash it......

I there a trunk rack on top?

Another thought is that maybe the hinges are sprung from someone trying to stuff it closed or got something hanging out when they tried to close... where is the gap? Front? Back?, all around?

Masking tape on the area to prevent black silicone (rtv sealant) from sticking to what you do not want repaired. Plastic (saran wrap) on standby. squeeze a bead of silicone on the affected area a little larger than needed. Put the plastic wrap over it. Close the lid and leave it alone for several hours or overnight. Carefully open the lid ,and make sure the silicone has set. The plastic wrap should peal off , and if silicone has gotten on the masking tape , use a razor knife to carefully cut the silicone. Pull off the tape. I have used this method many times.

BradValk48237, There is no rack and the gap is all around and it only has 8k and the gaskets look brand new! Even washed it yesterday and the left bag is even leaking, and I noticed after riding in the rain even the TOP was wet like coming up from the tire. Big mystery to me!

Da prez, Thanks for the tip and if all else fails I'll try it. You would have to see the how new the gaskets look!  Undecided

When you close the trunk are you pushing on the center at the back til you hear and feel a click?? On the saddle bag=is the clip-hook centered and front of bag level?? The lid on the saddle bag needs to be centered or the rear latch can be testy. I know I know-saddle bag 101. Not making fun of you just touching all bases.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

Haha, yes the trunk clicks as I press downward and the clip hook is centered and lined up.  Smiley
