Would You Buy a Valkyrie Today considering their age , a 1998 is 15 years old and parts are slowing disappearing ? I am right , they are becoming a little harder to get , the parts ??

I bought my 98 a year ago this week. I have no concerns about parts availability now or in the future. There are plenty of resources out there...both new and used.

Yes, no, and no, you're not. Plenty of us and others are still looking for opportunities to buy 10+ year old Valkyries. Anyone can still get necessary Valkyrie parts from Honda. Add-ons are certainly not as available as they once were. You may be on the wrong forum.

With PROPER maintenance they will be around longer than I am. But to answer your question-YES-I would buy one today and with the help of this board-which B T W I use a lot-to help keep it maintained. And yes again-parts are going too be harder to come by. BUT-look around at the vintage cars AND motorcycles. Part of the reason Pinwahl is in business or any salvage yard is to keep the(insert yer brand here)rest of them operating. RIDE SAFE.

If I were relatively new to the motorcycle world and didn't know much about them except how to ride them, the Valkyrie would not make my short list of bikes to even vaguely consider buying.
Used. Most well over 10 years old. Many with 70+k miles on them.
I would be looking for a newer bike with less miles as a general rule.
But I'm not relatively new to the motorcycle world. And a 10+ year old Valk, properly cared for, would not only make my short list but it would BE the list.

Hmmmmm, yes I would. But I'm a sucker for older bikes. Nothing new (or within the last few years) other than the new Honda CB1100 has really sparked my interest. It's been around 3 years or less since I bought a 73 Honda CL350, an 81 Honda CB650C and an 82 Honda CB900C. And parts are still available for those bikes, to an extent at least. And I still consider getting another Valkyrie, but with the one I got I don't think I could find one much if any better.

Well, I did, a month ago, sold my 2011 HD Street Bob, and purchased a 2003 Valkyrie. My wife and I enjoy the Valkyrie so much more. With TLC this bad girl will look good in 2033, just sayin' well built is well built.

Yes, I would. I bought a 99 last year. I dont regret it at all. Kindda looking for a second one now, need to get the $$$ in order before I look too hard parts are slowing disappearing ?
No, I can still get the parts. It might take a few days, but you can still get them. Accessories are harder to come by sometimes... I am right , they are becoming a little harder to get , the parts ??

Unless I had proof the cam issue had been taken care of up thru the 03s, NOPE! There is a cam issue? I've never heard of that. Have ridden my 99 over 100.000 miles, certainly would have heard of that, I would think.

MP Sorry Hoser, I didn't clarify that....Its the 98 up to 2002 or 03 Harleys that had some cam issues. Soft metal, not all just some. I had one that puked and the tech said it was fairly common. But you know what techs usually say?

ok here is my delema 5 years ago my neighbor had a stroke and wasn't expected to last long put his 03 standard in the local paper for sale 1 owner never down .4800 miles garage kept he was asking 8500.00 no takers a few months later I offered him five grand his wife made him take it I am diabetic problems with my feet keep my trips to just a few hundred miles a year .I wanted it to look flashy so started to look at all the bling that was for sale here and on ebay keep in mind it was a hobby thing then 2 weeks ago I had 2 heart attacks im olny 56 and they want open heart surgery now my family wouldn't know how to sell my bike.or get a fair resale price out of it I kept a log of every part I bought and every part changed or removed was boxedup in case I wanted to go back to stock I don't think its been out of new jersey yes I know its a shame .I added my list up and all the parts besides the hard to find cobra light bar and oter things like solo rack avon tires my total out of pocket parts list is over 10 grand mostly chrome and stainless parts stereo ultimate seats national cycle bags and OEM shield have no miles at all on them this year I now have 8800 miles on it mostly just driving to local car and bike shows so im out of pocket 15 grand has over 600 led lights on it for night shows and we all know by following the market it would be a stretch to get a buyer to fork over at least 10 grand for a 03 standard black valk to regain some cash should I strip it back to stock and sell the bling hope to get 7500 for the bike and maybe 4000 for the parts chime in with your commets please and not to brag but I will I have 16 either best of show or first place trophys for my effort but I really would like to see how it would stand up with other Valkyries I don't see 7500 for it, even the low miles many here have gotten really good deals in the 6000 range, maybe not 8800 miles but real good prices. selling the parts is one way to go, don't know all the goodies you have but without factory bags 4k would be hard to get to, think 2500-3200 Do not fear the open heart surgery. I had a "massive" heart attack (Doctor's words) on Feb.11 followed by a triple by-pass on Valentines Day (took two days to get my heart in shape to be cut on). Am getting Doctor's release tomorrow to get back on the bike. (fingers crossed) The surgery is a bitch, you will take more pills than you could dream of. You will hurt. You will get very very tired at times (take many naps). You will lose strength and it is slow to get back. You will have a foot long scar right down your chest & it will be beautiful because you'll be alive to see it. Listen to the Doc's, they get the big bucks for a reason. Most importantly, you will be alive and after a month, will begin to feel real good and in two months you'll be ready for an Ironman (mentally, not physically). You will lose weight and that ain't all bad. Modern medicine is incredible. John Schmidt (always here somewhere) went through worse than what I did and probably worse than what lies ahead for you. He is back at it and back on his Valk and fiesty as ever (maybe more). I don't see a pressing need for you to sell the bike, unless there is more to your situation. Seafoam, full tank, battery tender and she will be ready when you are!! She will actually be an inspiration for you to do what you are told and get better! One added benefit, as you lie around feeling crappy, you can come here for the fun and games! Not to worry

I would not consider the parts question when it comes to a Honda. I'm sure I'll be able to get parts many years in the future if they are needed.
You're on a Valkyrie forum. It may be a bit biased.
Many with a Valkyrie now would buy another one, but in my case, I'd probably look at other options before making that call. There is another thread here about changing out for the Victory Vision. Some have drooled over the new BMW. The big Triumph triple broo-ha-ha died down a lot. We just had a local rider buy a new F6B during the GOTF.
The Valkyrie is hard to beat, but it doesn't have fuel injection. It does require rear-end maintenance every 10K miles.
If I did lose mine due to theft or accident and I did find a nice Maroon/Black Interstate (my favorite color) I'd be all over it. Failing that, I'd look at the Victory and the Gold Wing before settling on a used Valk.

Yes , I know , but they are more current than Valks . I have owned 2 valks and loved them , I am in the market for another bike ( as soon as I sell my R1200RT ) and I am leaning toward a VTX 1800 or 1300 and maybe another Valk . Just getting ideas here , that's all . Also considering V Strom 650 I wonder , does anyone here have a VTX 1800 ??? Would like to know 'bout comparison

Pretty odd question on a Valkryie forum. I doubt there would be more than 1% on this board that would question on buying another used Valkyrie. Heck, if I ever found a 1984-1986 honda V65 magna maroon red in good condition with under 30K at a reasonable price around $2500 I'd jump on it as well and that is a 25+ year old bike. But, the wife would probably kill me first since last fall I bought a used scooter and as of this past weekend I bought a used 2008 Can Am MAX XT 500cc 2-up ATV. I have to stop or the next purchase over 1 grand will be a dog pound for me to live in.
