I know that brake pads wear differently based on usage, riding characteristics and our individual machines.  However, wondering if there is a certain mileage that we need to be aware of to check them out.  I'm heading out to Sturgis in about a month and trying to get everything done that needs to be done to a new-to-me I/S I purchased a couple of months ago.  Normally I would just go ahead and change them out, but $ is tight, so trying to get done what really needs to be done now and wait on the rest.  Previous owner kept records of all work done to the bike and both sets of brake pads were changed out approx. 10K miles ago.  To me, that means I shouldn't have to worry about them, but felt like I needed to ask the experts here.  Thanks in advance!

Take a look at them.  There are wear grooves made into them.  If they are still there,  good to go.
