hello,

I bought a 99 Interstate in pristine condition, just 22k on it for a steal of a price, however I did not get a manual with it and am unsure what else needs to be loosened or removed to get the one piece seat off of the bike.  I really could use some help as I have a new Saddleman Explorer seat I want to put on it.

Thanks Guys!!

Also if anyone has an owner's manual available in print or Doc. PDF I am interestd in one..Thanks again.

The owner's manual maybe located under the seat.  I don't have an IS so I don't know how to remove the seat, however there probably is a ignition key slot between the two side covers facing the front and a bolt on the rear of the seat.  A shop manual is available free as a PDF on the Norwegian Valkyrie site.  Someone else will probably post the link as I am at work.

There is a keyed lock located on the center cover in the open area underneath the seat/gas tank easily noticed when looking for it where the gas on/off is located.

Push the seat down to help get it to release.

Ezzy pezzy Unlock seat lift a bit and push back to rear of bike a bit. Reverse for install. And MAKE SURE seat is latched back correctly BEFORE riding. How do I make sure it's latched you ask-pull up on front of seat fairly hard and if it don't move-it's latched.  cooldude When you do get that seat off a dab of oil on the latch-the V shaped thingy pointing straight up-won't hurt a thing.  Wink RIDE SAFE.

Try the following link to download a p.d.f..  I have it downloaded myself but I don't know how to send it.

If it has engine hanger covers, the lock will be in the left hand hanger cover. If not, about 4" from the edge of the left side on the centre cover.
