The interstate trunk will fit on your tourer.  This site and ebay is going to be your best bet to locate a interstate trunk. Along with the trunk, you will need all of its mounting rails and you will have to change your fender rails. The interstate rails are different in that they have the studs to mount the trunk.  The trunk comes with a three pin connector for the tail and stop lights. Your bike will not have a connector to plug this into but you can cut and splice them into your existing wiring. I added a trunk to my tourer  (see my profile picture) and used a standard trailer wiring harness and converter so the brake lights would also function as turn signals.  There are several options for wiring. If you do a search on this site, you will see several options and helpfull hints on adding the trunk.

I have no experience doing so but others do.

There are any number of aftermarket trunks that people mount to the std/tourer luggage rack.

Get the interstate trunk.  The trunk I bought used and I got lucky. It came with the rails.  Fordmano helped make the lights quick disconnect.  I sent the mounts to bigbf for the quick release.  Worth the money.

Here's a good option. My mounting bracket it kind of "rigged", but I only put the trunk
on for long (more than four or five days) rides... Givi has high quality, but they're
kind of homely, especially with rigged mounting brackets...

When I saw the title of the thread I really wanted to say "First, take one Elephant"....probably only seems funny to me cos we call em 'top boxes' over here instead of trunks!!!

Thanks, I'm here all week!!

Just curious, is that a quick release for the trunk only or the mounting bracket as well.

FWIT - my opinion, if you want a trunk to leave on the bike for many years, spend the cash (lot's of it I'm afraid) to get an Interstate trunk, or custom mount a Harley trunk.  Most of the aftermarket stuff is junk.  I went through two - one lasted a couple of years but it was kind of small, the other lasted about six months before it started cracking around the lock.  I have an Interstate, the trunk's solid as hell.  On my standard I use one of the big Kuryaken Ultra Tour bags when I need it - it holds a ton.  If you go aftermarket, get a good look at it first.

I bought the Mutazu trunk and side bags, had them on the bike for about a year then noticed cracks in both. The trunk hinge pin fell out on a ride, slide it back in, cracks at the hinges, lock very loose and chrome rubbed off, LOCKED lid popped open several times while riding, rubber water seal was wasted after about 2 months. PVC just didn't hold up. Big let down.

I replaced it with this
http://www.powerproductsparts.com/
Look under Tour Pack TPKCW
I know it looks like HD but I like the size and the wing.

Side bag cracks were partially my fault, only used the "Easy Brackets" to mount them and they of course shook and bounced on every bump. PVC just could not take the pounding, I should have seen it coming. Repaired the bags and added some bottom brackets and much stronger now.

Yes, the Interstate trunk will fit your Tourer.  One possible place to find one is Craigslist......this is a good search engine for C/L....

http://www.adhuntr.com/

Or check with Pinwall.  Pinwall also lists a bunch of Valkyrie (and other motorcycle) parts on ebay.  You might find a trunk there.

Used Interstate trunks usually go for a primium and are usually $pendy.

You'll need a set of fender rails from an interstate and the trunk mount to install an Interstate trunk on your tourer.  Again, you can usually find them on ebay.

But of course, you can always keep a check on our VRCC classifieds.

http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/board,7.0.html

However, there are plenty of other options for trunks.

I mounted a Harley trunk on mine.

It's a Harley leather tour pak.  They make it in several different versions....with studs, without, etc.  The one I got (the studded one) is the one they make to match the Harley Heritage bike.

http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441988463&default=none

The best price I found it for was on ebay.....just over $500 new.  You can usually find some used ones listed on ebay or craigslist for cheaper.

It doesn't come with a lock, but there are several different folks that make a lock set for it.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Road-King-Soft-Leather-Tour-Pack-Locking-System-/230474939361?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35a9607be1&vxp=mtr

http://www.inertiawrx.com/tour.htm

http://www.inertiawrx.com/vid_tour.htm

Harley makes their own lock set for it too.  There's usually news ones on ebay.

I mounted it on the "Valkyrie chromed lazer cut carrier" from Big Bike Things.

This......

http://www.bigbikethings.com/Page3.html

That luggage rack makes a perfect platform to mount most any trunk to.....it's big and wide....just right for mounting trunks to.

I modified that rack with some angle from the metal rack at Home Depot so I could mount some LED's on it.

Got the leds here.....

http://www.bigrigchromeshop.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?page=BRCS/PROD/STRIPL/UP39306

You can wire them either just run.....or run/brake.  The ones I put on the side are wire just run and the one on the rear is wired run/brake.  It's VERY bright.

As a side note......the back rest I've got on it isn't the stock one from Harley that comes on it.  I put a Corbin backrest on it that Corbin makes for the tour pak.  This one......

http://www.corbin.com/accessories/503.shtml

It's spendy too, but it doesn't say Harley on it anywhere, it's bigger, looks better, and according to the wife, way more comfy.

There are still other very nice trunk options too.

Mustang makes a very nice trunk now.  Here.......

http://www.mustangseats.com/Product/13304/Covered-Hard-Trunk-Studded-with-Conchos

You can get them with studs or without.  You can also find them cheaper than the Mustang site if you search around some.

Another option is Tsukayu.  They make a very nice trunk......and they offer a direct mounting kit just for our Valks too.

http://www.tsukayu.com/TouringTrunk.htm#AC

You do have options.  Keep looking around 'till you find what you want.  cooldude

Remember, if you get the IS trunk and mounts, you're also going to want to hook up the trunk lights (4). And if the trunk is to be convertible, the wiring should be as well.

Hey Rich, it's the mounting bracket.  The trunk never comes off the bracket.  When the trunk is off, you won't know the bike is set up for a trunk.
