My hips start aching after riding awhile so I started looking at front pegs that mount to the crash bars.

A couple on ebay look like possibilities:

Chrome Buffalo Comfort Peg Kit
for Honda Valkyrie (all)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/290868545413?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_2159wt_910

Kuryakyn Footpegs 7976 for Honda GL1500CT Valkyrie Tour 1997-2000
http://www.ebay.com/itm/300765328493?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1487wt_941

I know that the Kuryakyn Pegs are really good but is anynone using the Chrome Buffalo pegs?

IndyBob - I have a set, almost identical to the Buffalos, but a different manufacturer, I think, as well as the 7976 Kuryakyn ones. I now have the Kuryakyns on ALL my pegs. I started with the "thin" ones, but found that they didn't spread the weight out very well, so it felt like I had been standing on a ladder all dayk, with soreness in my arch, even after driving the 40 minutes or so, to work. It really isn't the weight, but the constant "banging" as you ride, it seems. Since changing to the Kuryakyns, I haven't had any problem, even after 3 or 4 hours straight. Well worth the difference!

YMMV, but in MY opinion, well worth the difference in price, and if you keep looking, quite often you can find used sets, at 1/2 price, if you don't mind used.

Thanks for the reply. I am also thinking about these Chinese Rip-Offs of the Kuries:

Front Foot Rest Foot Pegs For Honda Valkyrie 1800 2004 2005 (Fit: Honda)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/261189749039?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_3044wt_1137

Has anyone tried these?

They actually look pretty good. The one thing I've seen, about "knock-offs" sometimes, is the chrome doesn't hold up as well. However, if you are like me, who keeps it garaged, chrome polished, etc, that shouldn't be a problem It's usually leaving it exposed to the moisture, and dirty, that seems to allow the pitting to start, and once it's started, it's usually already "too late".

I went back and looked at his other auctions - most are pleased, but this one scares me a bit"

Arrived quickly but poor quality, it looks a lot better in the picture.

I think I would try to find that same exact picture on his auction, on any of the Kuryakyn websites. If so, then I would probably steer clear, meaning they just copied the Kuryakyn picture...

From the photo at link on the Kuryakyns, what are these mounted to?

I have a set mounted on the crash bars, but by the time I reach out to them, around the valve covers, I am in lazy boy recline mode and not comfortable.  I am only 5-8. I tried mounting them on the crash bar supporting mount under the engine, but it is a thinner bar that they will adapt to.

Just for your information, be careful of buying a kit setup with clamps (for your outside engine guards).

Most Hog ready kits have 1 1/4" clamps, but for the Valk outside engine guards, the clamps need to be 1 1/8".
