Hey guys, I'm getting ready to pull my tank for the first time and install a Pingel petcock and while I'm at it install a new air filter. I've got a Pingel inline fuel filter part number SS1P. Has any one used one of these on their Valkyrie's? It is supposed to be a high flow filter. I don't want to start cutting fuel lines if it isn't needed ! Thanks for any help !

Never been there, but it seems you will have to cut the line from the tank to the carb manifold  to install it.  Hoser  ???

If you use that filter, use a new fuel line and keep the old one for reference and to replace if you have trouble with your filter decision.

Make sure you have NO low spots in the fuel line. Our Ghurls are gravity feed on the fuel. A couple of folks here have created"issues"when installing fuel filters. RIDE SAFE.

What I'm asking is if a fuel filter is necessary other than the screen on the petcock? In other posts I've read where when useing the Pingel petcock some of you also used a Golan or othe fuel filters. I realize our carbs are fed by gravity. I want to know if anyone has used this Pingel filter and had any issues ?

I use a Golan Petcock with no screen and a Pingel chrome inline fuel filter, I have not had one problem with fuel delivery since I installed this set. Best thing I ever did to my 2001 Standard (Black the fastest color). Rick

I use a Pingel petcock and a large capacity Fram 3/16" automotive fuel filter.

If you have a screen over the stem of the petcock, then you probably don't need the inline filter.

If you use the Golan petcock, the screen doesn't seem to fit with the longer stem Golan, so you would install an inline filter after the petcock.

Of course you can also install a Dan Marc solenoid with an integral filter too and therefore wouldn't really need the separate inline filter.

If you are installing the Dan Marc, make sure you tie into a circuit that's live only when the ignition is "ON" otherwise it will never close, and defeat the ultimate purpose.

also pastman if you are doing a direct OEM air filter swap there are no changes but if you are upgrading to a K&N filter some of us don't use the prefilter foam thingy on the install and not sure if many or all of us just put the gasket for the top of the airbox aside and not reuse it unless a OEM filter goes back in this might start a whole new thread now

I too have installed the Golan petcock and also have the Golan inline fuel filter with the Dan Marc valve.  Works great!  The petcock's fuel tube will not fit into the tank opening, so removal of the filter screen is necessary.  However, with the use of the inline fuel filter the issue of air/fuel mixture contamination is mitigated.
