Hey All.....
Finally got everything on the light bar wired up, except for the power source to the switch.
Is the "Blue w/ white stripe" wire only located in the headlight Bucket?
I've got a 98 Standard and I've been checking all the wires in the bundles behind the right side cover, and I can NOT find a blue w/ white stripe wire anywhere back there.
Am I correct in now assuming that the Blue w/ white stripe wire, that I need to tap into to power the switch that will trip the relay, is only to be found in the headlight bucket?
Starting to feel like I've been on a long ride, and just realized that my exit was 50 miles back up the road behind me! 2funny

According to the honda wiring diagram the blue white wire is not in the headlight bucket at all but at the high/low switch and between the engine kill switch.

I'm not sure if you know about the excellent wiring diagrams made by RP Brown.  The schematic your interested in is http://www.rattlebars.com/valkfaq/schematics/rpage04.html
These are a lot nicer to read then the honda service manual and have splices and connector colours as well.

Since you mention you are using a relay you just have to find the wire and tap into it.  There is a single pin bullet connector on the wire somewhere between the two switches, that's always a good place to connect.

Hope this helps you.

The wire you want is in the headlight bucket.

Anyway, that is where my son & I found it.

I think that is the one that kills the headlight when the starter button is pushed.

My Cobra Light Bar lights are on all the time the key is on and it goes out when I hit the starter, when I release it, they come back on.

I wired them that way after I remolded my starter connector.   Used a replacement off of an old Gold Wing and has been that way for almost 100,000 miles............

I too tapped the wire in the headlight bucket to the bulb when I first installed them. I checked it first using a volt meter just to be sure that it did turn power off when the starter button was pushed. This wire then went to another switch that triggers the relay. There are two schools of thought here. If you wire the lights to work independently you will always have lights should your starter button start to fail and it reduces the amp draw on that switch contact . I now have a switch block on the clutch fluid reservoir that is powered of the accessory circuit. This block now triggers my light bar relay to follow the second school of thought keeping that extra amp draw off the starter button and having that second power source.
Your choice.

Thanks, at least now I know where it's at.
From what's been said above, it sounds like tapping into this wire will only power the lightbar when the headlight is on?
I was wanting to wire the lightbar up on an independent circuit so that it would be able to be used if the headlight circuit goes out. Seems there would have to be a keyed wire to tap into somewhere. Being a 98 Standard, I didn't see any "Accessory" wire/port behind the right side cover, and the wires that are behind there are bundled so tightly I doubt I could tap into any of them anyway
I guess I could wire it up to the + battery terminal, but I was hoping to find a wire to tap into that was only hot when the key was on. Hate to have it where it can be turned on while the key is off.
For all you non-Interstate riders that have your lightbar on a separate circuit, what wire did you tap into for the switch and where did you find it??

The accessory plug is there, it's usually just buried behind the wire bundles.

Mine was buried up near the rear curve of the frame.

If you were to use the blue/white it would be connected to the headlight fuse so if the headlight fuse or wiring died so would the light bar.

the wires are there...I use these for my accessory fuse box relay on my '99 standard.  My aux fuse box provides power to relays for my Stebel horn, driving lights, and GPS.  They (both positive and negative leads) are located inside a clear boot cover sleeve just behind the RH side cover...look more carefully and you will find it.

Boy, you guys are good!
I thought I'd checked every past thread pertaining to hooking up a lightbar, but I must have missed that one!
Thanks Al V and everybody else! The links to to the thread w/ the pics was what I needed.  cooldude
Found the acc. plug right where it was supposed to be. There's already a wire plugged into one of them so I'm going to trace that back and find out what it's connected to.
Also found the link in that post to the pics of BF wiring in his PC-8. Darn nice job!
Now I can get this finished up right, and get some sleep!
Thanks Again!!
