Hey that is fantastic Wayne. After you catch up on your sleep let us know more about the ride. Did you pick that destination as a turn around point for any particular reason?

Fort Walton Beach, Florida I'm a simple man, I like pretty, dark haired woman and breakfast food.

All the way from Ocean Springs, MS over the new bridge into Biloxi and all the way on down to Bay St. Louis is a beautiful ride.....even without all of the stuff there that got blown away in Katrina.

I did pick that spot because I wanted a five hundred mile ride out and five hundred return in order to meet the requirements for an Iron Butt ride.
The weather was great after a cold start, I left at 04:00 and was dressed comfortable for the ride at the starting point as I passed Lake City towards Tallahassee the temperature started dropping and it got pretty darn cold. Weather lady said it was a new record low for Tally.
I took the engine RPM up to thirty five hundred and set the cruise control. this gave me a GPS speed of 70 and a speedometer reading of 75. Not sure how accurate this speed is I haven't check it since I went to the Dark Side. The bike ran great. I had one small problem the left highway peg let go on the way right outside of Lake City, guess it was metal fatigue they've been on there since 99. Wish it would've waited till I was on the way back.
Your right on the ride from Ocean Springs, I dropped off the Interstate there and rode the coast over to Bay St Louis. Wanted to sight see a little, it's been several years since I was out that way.

Wayne, I left Key Largo last November at 12:30 one morning...the temp was 70 degrees....by the time I got north of Port St. Lucie on the turnpike the temp dropped to 45 degrees...needless to say, I pulled over & put on some more cloths...I made up to Ocala by day break...thought I had it made...run the next 150 miles in fog to Tallahassee....made it to Laurel, Ms (my home) about 4:15 that afternoon...oh, what a ride..
