I have had a HD batwing fairing lying around for years. One of these days I plan to mount it on the Valk. Or so i keep telling myself. I was just wondering. Some one that has made the conversion. Is there any difference in fuel mileage? Better or worse?

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I notice no mpg differance. It does cut the wind tho which is a plus.

I have a memphis shades batwing . It is alot lower profile than HD batwing with a 5 in. Shield. It gets better MPG than it did with a National Cycle windshield on the hiway !

I have a Woodys fairing.  I haven't been able to tell a difference since I put it on.

On my Harley, I changed from an HD windshield to a Memphis Shades batwing.  No change in mileage, but a whole lot better wind deflection.  The 2002 Valkyrie Standard came with a Memphis Shades batwing with lowers.  I get a consistent 35 MPG highway with really great wind control with a recently added 12" recurve windshield for the batwing.

No difference for me in windshield vs batwing on the valk. HOWEVER.....we have constant cross winds in oklahoma. We rarely have a sunny day when it isn't REALLY windy. I noticed a bit of increased drag with a CROSS wind. Head and tail winds are fine. Putting the batwing/hard bags/hitch/bag rails on my valk made it handle and drive more like a tourer, and less like a hot rod.

I remember that being my first though once I'd installed all of the above. Now though, I cant even tell.
