« on: May 25, 2013, 01:09:52 PM »

It's time to bring my 99 Interstate project bike back to life. It's been more than a year and a half since I had it on the road. The wife wants her spare bedroom back where I have had all of the tins stored after I picked them up from the painter. My wife will BBQ for us while we work on the bike, so I will need a head count of how many people will show up so that we have enough food for everyone. If you want to come to the wrench party, let me know and I will send you my home address. I will be ready to receive you guys anytime after 8AM next Saturday (06/01/2013). I don't have a flat driveway so I think the best place to park will be in front of my house backed up to the curb. Hope to see everyone next Saturday. You will see my 98 Tourer  parked in front of my house.

I'm in but, the way my body clock is currently calibrated, probably won't get there until at least noon.

I can stay late, though...

This is going to be fun! cooldude

Might be able to sneak some time in on this.  Looks like my crew will be in Waco so that frees me up.

Well, I see a problem right off the bat.  You need to post this near that rear tire before any of us work around it.

Sixguns, did you know a project like this automatically enters your name as a nomination for VP for the upcoming elections?

I would hope that we can get it all together and running by the time we finish on Saturday, but there is a lot that we have to get accomplished to make that happen. Elsie's gonna BBQ some burgers and chicken so there is no need in anyone going home hungry. We'll post some pictures when we are through. I hope the carbs aren't gummed up. Got my fingers crossed.   cooldude

I would like to ask a favor if I could. If someone has the (3 orings) for the rear pumpkin they could bring to the wrench party, I will give you new ones when mine come in next week. TIA......   Smiley

Victor - I can not find the O-ring set I offered.   I had them in my hands less than 2 weeks ago when I darksided the Pearl White Stead.  I've checked the logical places and am still searching, but I'm not real confident I can deliver at this time.  Damn, I hate getting old.

Anyone else in the DFW area got a set?

Ok, the 50% chance of rain is not supposed to happen until around 3PM if it rains at all. The wrench party is still on. Whether one person shows or 15, we are still on for tomorrow. If you want to cage it to be safe, that's OK. We will have a good time and the BBQ will be plentiful. Hope to see all of you tomorrow.   cooldude

I will be caging it as I'm doing my own wrench party currently and I am not ready to put everything back together.  So I will be caging and can bring an extra MC lift if one is needed.

Gotcha covered.  It's part of my ongoing program to carry an entire Valk in spare parts wherever I go.

Still working some of the bugs out of the plan though.

A BIG thank-you to all that came out and wrenched at the wrench party. The bad weather did not materialize and we were able to get it all done. I really thought that it could not be done in one day but you proved me wrong. Pictures will be posted by tomorrow. I can't say enough to each and everyone of you that helped. I like the way the bike turned out. I hope everyone got enough to eat.   cooldude

Why wait for tomorrow, when you can post pictures today.

The project 99 Interstate started it's life like this:

Then the bike was torn down in preparation for the transformation:

Now the transformation is complete.

Thanks again to all that made this happen.    cooldude

As happy as you are, I'll bet momma is happier  Grin

The super-valk looks great!  And what a great paint job!  As good as it looks in the picture, the paint looks so much better in person.

It was fun.  Wish I could have stayed longer, but with the threatening weather, thought it best to move to a location 30 miles away,  where it rained cats and dogs.

Jimmy, great guys up here. Everyone chipped in to make it happen. They stayed all day until we were able to get her fired up and I was riding her down the road. Thanks to everyone that wrenched on the bike.    cooldude

Victor, now you have two beautiful Valkries!

What little I did to reassemble compared to the lunch feast you provided made me feel like I needed to mow the lawn or clean out the gutters before I left.

It was a great day with a temperature we will all be longing for in about a month...
