Hello everyone!

I just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself.

I am a new Valkyrie owner, having recently purchased a (new to me) 1998 Valkyrie Tourer.

Not only am I a new Valk owner, I am also a new rider.  I've been riding ATVs for 10+ years but recently most of my riding friends got the Harley bug and started getting bikes.  I attended a motorcycle school and received my licence in May of this year.  Most of my riding friends just took the motorcycle road test and didn't bother with taking a lesson or course.  Personally I found the course to be excellent and would not have considered getting my licence without the course.

Some people have suggested that the Valk is to big a bike for a "first bike".  I'm a big guy and I looked at everything (new and used) on the market and couldn't find a bike that had a more comfortable feel.  I also couldn't find a bike that I thought was better looking than the Valkyrie.  So based on that, I decided to get a used Valkyrie (w/40,000 kms) over any of the other bikes on the market.

The gentlemen that I purchased the Valk from took great care of it - he had purchased it from his brother and was only selling it to get a 98 Valkyrie Interstate.

I look forward to becoming a member of this community and I'm sure I will have plenty of questions over the next several months as I learn about my Valkyrie.

Below are some photos of my 98 Valkyrie (with the rear seat removed).  All for now, going to head out for this beautiful Canada Day holiday and clean the bike!

Cheers,

CanadianViking

Welcome and Happy Canada Day! The Valk looks great! I'd feel kinda bad, though,
if I didn't remind you to take it slow and easy for a little while, this being your
first motersickle. Go right ahead with the questions, we love 'em.....and most of
us asked them when we first came here! cooldude

Congrats CanadianViking and welcome.

I was just up in your neck of the woods for a few weeks (Red Deer and area). Had a ton of family business to take care of but did manage to find one day to take a drive (cage) through Nordegg, Sask River Crossing and down to Banff and back around to Red Deer via Canmore.  You have some spectacular touring ahead of you.

I hope we get all chance to experience scenes like this from the saddle some day. http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=banff+national+park&btnG=Search+Images&gbv=2&aq=0&oq=banff+. The views, solitude and air are hard to describe.

Enjoy.
