I've been through the shop talk area, believe I've covered all the correct articles, haven't been able to find a part number, or even a decent picture/drawing of an exhaust gasket.
Could someone please direct me to the honda p/n.. and a picture if possible.
I'm prepared to cut my own out of an appropriate material, if it comes to that.

Do a search here for exh gaskets, there are pics.
If you like, send me a email address and I can send you a picture of 6 used copper gaskets.
Next time I do this, I'd pick up some copper gaskets rather than the fiber versions. And I'd probably pick them up at the local honda dealer.

Posted on: Today at 11:43:48 AM Posted by: pancho Interesting choice copper, I've worked with copper foil in high frequency transformers for years, but I'd not have thought it the way to go for a gasket. Maybe we're learning something new. Thank-you, that is the same picture I found in shop talk microfiche, and now I have a p/n

Go back to the main page, where you pick either General board or Tech board, then type in - exhaust gaskets- in the search box at the right center of the page. Several threads on do's and don'ts there and experience with different gaskets. Search box doesn't pull up all threads if you try to do it while on the Tech or General board.

I'd say there's two problems with the copper gasket.
One, the copper gasket and the head and muffler pipe have different expansion coefficients, which could possibly cause some binding at the bolts.
Two, the different metals will create the 'galvanic' effect, or iow, there will be a small voltage generated which will promote corrosion.
Gonna scoot over to the dealer right now, see if he has any stock of the correct part.

servicehonda.com - all stock parts. I have ordered through them for a few years now and have had no problems.
