Went for a short ride this afternoon. Stopped by the store and topped off the fuel. Came out of the store and there was a guy looking over my bike.  coolsmiley We struck up a convo that lasted about 20 min. While talking I saw a drip.  ???  Came on home (only 4 miles) and started inspecting. Found that the petcock was the problem. Have a kit to fix her up in the morning.  cooldude Why is it when you have to take the tank off it's always full???  crazy2

If you have a container big enough and low enough you could drain some of that gas out through your carburetor drains. It may be slow, but safer than handling the full tank.

Go to Wally World in the auto section and pick up one of those squeeze bulbs with a 4 ft. or so hose on each end. Works great for siphoning gas and also good to carry with you just in case a buddy (never you) runs out of gas. My son ran out on his VTX 1800 and before he came to a complete stop at the edge of the hwy., another rider on a Wing pulled up, asked what was wrong and pulled one of these out of his bag and siphoned enough to get Todd to the station. Guy was a total stranger and just shows how helpful some riders are.

Thanks for the idea. Sounds like something good to have on the bike.

IS THIS SOME KIND OF VIRUS??!!

Just went out for supper. Tonight mind you. Got to the place and saw some fluid on a cover. Gas. Out of the petcock. Where do you get the kit?

If you have a hose, (I have a clear one) shove it all the way back toward the petcock. Hold the other end of the hose up and use a funnel to fill it about half way with fuel. It's now primed and ready to empty into a can.

I don't know the part # off hand, but most of them are gotten from Honda Direct Line.

Or just do lik I did, put a Pingle on it, non vaccum, then added a Dan Marc shutoff.   Key activated.

Anyone (everyone) with an OE petcock, should have one of these on hand.  And if you use it, get another.
