Hey All, I am in the market for a new seat on my Valk. I own a 98 tourer and I am looking at the ultimate big boy, saddlemen tourer, or the hartco warrior. The  warrior is a very plain looking seat while the others look sharp.

What I really need is to hear from anybody their experience. The ultimate is 880 + while the other two are under 500 currently.

through your experiences is there that much difference in them ....pros ...cons?

Also, does anyone know if Des offers a discount to members of the VRCC as he advertises on the board?

Thanks ahead for your help!!

I have not used the Saddleman so no opinion on that one.  I went from the OEM on the Valkyrie Interstate to a Corbin which I liked, but was a little hard on long rides, to a Hartco which granted was not made for me, but was way too high and too much like a barstool and the front edges did not roll off like I would have liked to an Ultimate King Big Boy.  I am pretty much satisfied with the Ultimate.  Folks who have the Russell Day Long that is I understand made from an OEM seatpan say it is the best.  I wouldn't know on that one.  I know the Ultimate is better than the Hartco for me.
I know opinions are like the part of your body that you put on the seat everybody has one. Smiley

I've gone from the Stock '97 Standard seat, to a Mustang, to another Mustang (this time with Driver Backrest), to having a 'Gel-Pad' installed in the Mustang, to an Ultimate 'King' (returned it, due to the fact that I sat 'on' it, rather than 'in' it), and finally to an Ultimate Big Boy with backrest.

I've done 500 mile days with all the seats (except the King), and the Ultimate Big Boy is by far the best IMHO, for me...  Best day was 870 miles, but I gotta say, I was more than ready to get off for the night!

I'm 6'2" and weigh about 270...  See if there might be some other member in your neck of the woods, and try a 'swap' for a while...  I believe Des (Ultimate) will take a seat back if you don't care for it, for a short test ride period.  You would be out the return shipping is all.

The 2000-up stock seat has a higher nose than the 98 stock seat and is a significant upgrade in comfort...for around $70 new...may give that a try or sit on a 2000-up seat just to see if it helps. Best bang-for-the-buck in Valk seat upgrades there is!

I prefer the Ultimate, you can find one for about half of retail if you have time to look.
Search E-bay and the VRCC Classifieds. To me the Ultimate lives up to it's name.
+1 on what Daniel Meyer says, the 2000 seat is similar in shape and support to the Ultimate.
Best Bang for the buck.

Speaking of trying out one.  Ultimate Seats is just a few hundred yards from J&P Cycles and Rossmeyers Destination Daytona in Ormond Beach.  I am almost positive that Des would let you at least try one on the bike.  He used to let you come in and he would put one on and take it for a long ride, but I heard he finally ran into a dishonest person and might not do that any longer.

Where are you located? We have Valkyries located all over this state and many have the Ultimate.
I would let you try mine before making the purchase, I'm sure others would also.

I have a 2000 standard and the formed stock seat is much better than previous years non-fitted seats.  I upgraded to the Ultimate a few years ago and like it much better and the back seat is also much better as it's a larger seat.  Still have the stock seat if you want to try it out.

Hey F6MoRider......I would love to take you up on your offer. I am trying to be in lakeland area on 6/15 for the rides for badges for the fallen Polk County Deputy. Maybe we can get together that day to try it out. I will PM you my cell number. Thanks.
