I am replacing my front Dunlop 404F, has about 16K miles and I really can't complain.....but I decided to get a Shinko  cause the tread design looked interesting.  Ordered it from Pinwall for $108 including shipping .  It will be here this week about Friday and will install in a few weeks.  Anyone tried one of these, I think it is a fairly new design.......

NEW SHINKO SE890 JOURNEY TOURING RADIAL FRONT MOTORCYCLE TIRE

SHINKO SE890 150/80R17

-The SE890 Journey touring radial is designed for larger touring bikes and cruisers with its versatile all-weather tread pattern.

- 5 Ply tread, 3 ply sidewall

- Aramid belted, radial construction

- H Speed Rating (130 mph) tubeless
===================================================================

                          UPDATE     UPDATE            UPDATE

===================================================================

Been installed about 6 months and 12K miles.....wear looked pretty good no complaints about driveability......but the damn thing is NOT supposed to grow bubbles in the tread at 80 mph in the freeway and go flap-flap-flap...... tickedoff tickedoff tickedoff tickedoff

The tread turned loose for about 12-14 inches around the circumference mostly on the left side of the tread.  Slowed it down and limped home at about 40 mph for 30 miles......don't know which pucker factor is worse....40 in the slow lane on the freeway or 40 on the shoulder of a country 2 lane with semi's whizzing by.... crazy2 crazy2 crazy2 crazy2

So looking for another tire online this morning....won't be a Shinko and have had at least one of most of the tires out there so I am not real partial to anything.....maybe another Dunlop 404F....that was pretty good.....

I at first thought you had a bad experience with the shinko, but it appears that
you haven't mounted it yet.

So then, why is it stinko?

I haven't tried the radial yet, but I sure do like the bias.

I put just short of 14000 miles on the one I had.  Cheesy And NEVER not once did I run it in the rain.  Roll Eyes I came up on wet highway AFTER a rain and it did rather well.  coolsmiley Mounted it with Dyna Beads and it ran true and cool even on the hottest days last summer.  Wink And YES I would purchase another one.  cooldude On the front of my I/S now is a Dunlop 404 130-90-17 rear tire running in the correct direction NOT reversed direction. Hope this is of some help to you.  Smiley RIDE SAFE.

I have about 3k or something on mine, for the price, im super pleased with it.  I ordered mine, it was less than 100 bucks and was less than a month old when it got to my door.

Im running DS rear, but the front has been very good for the cost.

Agreed. I had an issue with their earliest Goldwing tire several years ago (widespread problem that caused them to actually pull the tires from the market). Called Shinko customer service and they issued a credit for any tire through the place I had bought them. I don't think they've come out with another for the Wing yet, but I'd give them a shot if they did. I liked it for the 1200 miles it was on there.

I'm not farmiliar with the Shinko tires, but I Definitely Will Not buy another AVON. I have Two Valkyrie Interststes and have installed Austone Taxi tires on the rear of both and AVON Roadrider AM-26 tires on the Front. Both of the Avon Tires have Cracks on the Sidewalls. One is dated 2009 and the other 2012,and both of them have only a couple thousand miles on them but are going to be replaced with Dunlop 404's. I had this problem a few years ago with an AVON VENOM and thought that it was just Old Rubber but now I know it is AVON in General. So If any of you do purchase Avon tires BEWARE of the Problems that come with them.

i had thought of that but when i went to shinko's website they said all warrantees had to go through original place of purchase first and after the crap i went through with the kid that sounded about 16 on the phone and kept putting me on hold for a manager over and over again i didnt want to call them back maybe ill email shinko and see what happens.... i just chalked it up to 125 dollar mistake.... at least i got a great deal on my tripletred 95 bucks shipped to my door slightly used (had to be less than 1000 miles on it) still read 11/32  when i got it and i love it!

I had the same problem with my VENOM at the rear.  The front is not showing any cracks yet.  Must add the tires are 6 years old.

What does the out of round tire feel like.  Is the feeling (wobble/hobble) consistent at all speeds.  I have a Shinko at the rear and have a wierd up and down motion at around 50 - 55 mph.  Not sure it is the tire though  ???

The instability at 50-55 is classic unbalance wheel.  But it also could be out of round.  I would suggest trying Ride-On or the balancing beads to see if that corrects it.

I have not run the Shinko SE890 yet, but have seen it used on several large cc cruisers. Currently running Avon Cobras with 42psi front & 40psi with a 200 rear.  I will install the Shinko if your reports are good  after 10,000 miles (7k miles on my Cobras).

WOW......so far I am impressed.  The Stinko Shinko arrived today from Pinwall and unlike all the other tires I have ordered on line, this one came in its very own cardboard box!!!! Custom sized for the dimensions of the tire....  Another nice thing is, I can never remember what the dot on the tire signifies, heavy side, light side, valve stem....blah-blah..  This one has a sticker on the tire that says "the red dot is the light side side of the tire".....! Obviously goes to the valve stem......

Off to a good start, and will probably mount the puppy in a few weeks. Date code is 0913..thats good.

yeah that what i was getting but at a lower speed it would start i could feel it at about 25 mph ...the easy way to figure it out is put the bike up on a lift(if you have one) strap her to it and start the bike put her in gear and let her run you can see an out of round tire mine was hopping about 1/4 to 1/3 inch or maybe more but it was enough to rattle my teeth till about 75 lol

When Pirelli left the MC tire market Shinko bought their tread design. You are basically buying a Pirelli at a great price.

I ran Shinko's on a sport bike for years and don't have any issues or complaints. During the sport bike years I pushed the Skinko tires pretty hard (130mph+, hard cornering, etc), and the tires held up well.

I would mount one on my Valk.

I am glad to see we have another tire option for the mighty Valkyrie.

the dot on the tire is to line up with the valve stem . It is supposed to be for balance.

Ya know you spend too much time on the phat gal if you can tell the front end is setting up about 3/16ths too high......after installing the SHINKO-STINKO!!!!   crazy2 crazy2 crazy2

So, have about 5 miles on the rubber thus far and am impressed.  Took only .5 oz to balance the tire and the weight went beside the valve stem, so the light side of the tire needed a little help.....not bad.

Looking at the tire on the balancer, it ran as true as could be, not a bump or wiggle. Smooth as glass up to triple digits (in a straight line... coolsmiley), did several circles in a dirt/gravel parking lot to scrub a little of the newness away......so far I am happy....42 psi and ready to go......

Don't mean to hi-jack but.............. had the same tire with the exact same prob!
Ran it in forward direction. Slipped 3 times on me, last time almost dropped Sugar & me on our heads. Only got 'bout 6k or so before it had to come off due to "cracking" in the tread all the way around the sidewalls. Won't ever buy another one!

When Pirelli left the MC tire market Shinko bought their tread design. You are basically buying a Pirelli at a great price.

Didn't know this! Used to run Pirelli Sport Demons on the 754. Man they handled great!
Might check out the "Stinko" if revues are good.

Congrats Rio Wil, please keep us posted.

I recently put a Shinko SE890 Journey Touring of the front of my Valk. Was suggested to run it at 40psi to get most mileage out of it. I only have 200 miles on it, but not problems so far. Handles fine.

I'm on my second front Shinko. The mileage and performance I got out of the first one was part of the reason I bought the second one and for $96.00 delivered to my lacasa I COULD NOT pass it up.  cooldude Mounted with balance beads AGAIN and right after I had it mounted ran it up to 135 M P H indicated.  Roll Eyes Werx fer me some I'm good to go.  Wink RIDE SAFE.

My Avon is not worn out but is an old tire at this point. Not cracked anywhere though. Just replacing it due to age.

I think my Shinko has the mumps.... 2funny crazy2

I am not real happy with these valve stems.....there is no way to positively lock the tension on the gaskets and would have preferred a slightly cupped  washer to cover the outer gasket. Seems easy to over tighten and squash the gaskets.....elected to use a little locktite.  At least the nut is on the outside rather than the other version with the double nut on the inside...... crazy2
