OK, the new roof is on the bike barn, and it has been tested in last night's storm.  Wizard was out there through much of it, and said there were no leaks!!  So, we're good to go, even it it rains (heaven forbid!)

Kiwi has said he'll come out and help us do the mods to install 4-way flashers on our Valks, something I've really needed a time or two when traveling.

And we'll have something planned for lunch, just haven't decided what yet.   Suggesions, anyone?

We'll start around 9 and go until ?   Come on down!!

I'm looking forward to it.  I need to get away from the house, and I need some quality time with the new Valkyrie to figure out just what I have here.

OK, I think I am in.

I have gone dark side since the last session and since only one nut cage was removed, I think I am still rubbing, so would like to do the other one.

Also, tuner switch on my radio has stopped functioning and could look into that.

Always something we can do.

Phyllis, please send me instructions on how to find you again.  TIA.

Lyn-Del...if you have extra, I'd like to buy a gallon of Amsoil from you for my Valk.  What will I owe you?  (I'm not going to make anyone endure me changing my oil at a tech day...)
Also, cheapest source for OEM front brake pads?  35 a caliper from Honda of Houston is the price to beat...they say I'm at 30%.  I told them I'd do it myself next weekend.

We should have a couple of cases of 10W40, and one of 20W50 on hand.

Brake pads, I usually order from DLP.  Always takes a long time to get them, though.  Don't know if I have THOSE on hand or not.  Still unpacking the barn.

Sorry.  Direct Line Parts (Formerly known as Honda Direct Line).  http://www.directlineparts.com

They changed the name when they started carrying Suzuki parts, etc.

Wizard says we DO have brake pads on hand, if you don't find them in time, you can use ours and replace them for us....

I had forgotten I'd ordered extra last time, for both I/S and standard.

Directline has them for 33.95 x 2 plus a 7.50 "handling fee".  Honda of Houston has them in stock for 35.95 a set.  I'll have them for sure for the Wrench party...thank you for the offer Smiley

I think you'll find that by "set", they mean "per caliper".  If they mean 36 bucks for four pads (or six?), pick me up a set or ten while you're there.

I meant per caliper...the point I was trying to make is that I can stop there and have instant gratification (as much as one can have with brake pads...) for less money than ordering them and having to wait.

Which makes me ask -- who replaces ONE brake pad?  Wouldn't the brakes really pull unevenly?  So why aren't they sold in pairs?  I could see it if the front and rear were the same, but they aren't...

And if you are going through the trouble...why would you only replace one caliper?  The learning curve is done after the first caliper...

I'm guessing there's a model out there that requires the same brake pad, but only has a single disk up front.  Or, there are so many single disk bikes, they didn't want to confuse people, because let's face it, people are easily confused.

Bottom line is, no, you wouldn't replace only one side at a time, any more than you would replace the left side of your car's brake pads.
Here's an idea:  Start selling them as a single pad.  Then you need two purchases for each caliper!

OK, it's been a long week.  Time to step away.

I'll try to make it down if I can, I'm sure there are a few things I need to do, but drawing a blank right now on anything besides the general problem I've had of just not running right.  Might be a good idea to run a compression check if anyone has the tools for it, at least rule out if there's something going wrong there...

I've got a compression guage, but I'm not sure it has the right thread adapter.  Remind me on Friday, and I'll bring it along.

Pull the headlight fuse and bring it!
You can do it Charlie Brown!
I rode almost from work like that no problems.
Just make sure the battery is fully charged before you leave.

Yeah, see, the "almost" part is what's bothering me.  You wanna meet me halfway and swap batteries?  You can charge mine, while I drain yours.  (:

I don't see why it would not make it all the way no problem.
After I got home and killed it, it started right back up on it's own.
Bring it. You have my cell#. I'll bet you lunch you will not need to make the call.

Thanks for the trailer offer.  I may take Tinman up on his bet, and try to ride it all the way in, so the trailer will be backup, I suppose.

The friend who borrowed my carb sync tools has promised to have them back to us by then.  Not that I know how to use them (yet)

Its on my hopeful to-do list, even ahead of the front brakes that I just bought for Saturday.  I don't have the gauge or knowledge to sync carbs...can figure out brakes on my own if needed.

Phyllis is right.  We had a good time, and at least I got a little work done.  I have a newly rebuilt alternator installed, and it's been running great since then.
Met some new folks, had some good lunch, got my Valkyrie back on the road...
Sounds like a good time to me.
