Hello All,
I am a Goldwing Rider GL1800, I have Ridden many Valks, and if all goes well by week end, I will add a Valk to my stable. (will be first time Valk owner).
My question is on seats, I Like The Single Seat Look.
So far I like the Corbin one that extends over the rear fender, and tapers to a point so to speak.
Question 1. Is there other brands that make one like this brand Corbin ? Question 2. Is there any Gotcha's or Hickups? or just install and go (Corbin) ?
Question 3. I also do not mind the single seat that is just big and round so to speak, is this a mod ? or what brands offer this? I see Board sponsor Ultimate seats makes them of course after I posted this.
I'm ok with studs on the seat and always admired the Mustang ( i think the brand is) where is has like grooves or perforations in the seat to make it 3 dimensional looking. (like ultimate).
Question 4. I see photos of Valks after they do a single seat they have a SMall sissy bar with no pad, is this made out of the old sissy bar that was removed ? or where does one get that sissy bar ? or other options somewhat like it.
Thanks

Question for ya.
Do you plan on riding this bike long distance like you did the Gold Wing?
If so go with a Russell Day long seat, or a Ultimate made to your liking.
IMHO, Corbin, Mustang and etc seats suck in the hard on the butt department. Nice for show and tell, and very short trips...... Yes, I know, some riders love these seats, but I doubt like 7734 if they put many miles on one in a day trip......
I have an Ultimate and I'm setup solo, but no pictures since I converted it.
The little bar you refer to is an add on, I got mine off of evil bay since they are no longer made by anyone that I know of..... Seems like it was a Big Bike Parts item.......
Somebody who is fresh on that bar can either verify or set me straight on who made it......

Everyone will have a slightly different perspective, however most folks will agree that the Mustang saddle and the Ultimate saddle are excellent choices for a saddle. I own both and I am very pleased with both and like them both for different reasons. I feel that both saddles are comfortable on a long ride, however my personal opinion is that the Mustang is slightly more comfortable. I have the Ultimate lowboy saddle and I like it because it sets lower to the ground (I am 5' 11" with only on a 30.5" inseam).
I think the solo saddle you were describing was a Corbin Stinger saddle. I owned this saddle for a very short time...for me it was the most uncomfortable saddle I have ever ridden with...once again this was my personal experience...I am sure there are others that like it. As an alternative to the Corbin Stinger, I think Saddlemen makes a solo saddle that looks similar to the Corbin Stinger. I do not have any experience with it.

For extended riding, it is hard to beat a Russell Day Long. They are made to order for you, based on your size, ht. etc. I love mine.MP

What size are ya? I'm on the tall side, and have a corbin, russel, ultimate, and a mustang. The mustang sits me up higher, and doesn't push me forward. It gets the most time on the bike. The mustang quality is as good as the corbin. The other seats come on very cheap looking frames. If you want to find the quality of a motorcycle seat, look under the seating area.

Woefman: Like you, I too have a wing and you're right about the Wing froum. I've gotten afraid to post much. Too many grumpy old men with too much time to nag on the internet. I have a Corbin on my tourer. Been cross country 5 times on it and love it. As RJ said, It's a matter of personal taste what you like.

I have 2 back seats from Corbin. The one in the picture is called a pillion seat. My other seat (same as yours) is the tourer seat.

I have the Corbin on two Valks, one is a 2K Interstate with the full studded Corbin setup. Been Coast to Coast with this rig, I like the Corbins, and did an 800 miler on it in 11 hours once. The other is a custom with the Gunslinger seat, and have rode it almost as hard. Love the way it looks, and for me it rides good. All asses are different, but the Corbin does it for me.

Here's a "Diamond" made for a larger person with a PhatAzz.... it is a good seat, phone 'em and tell 'em your dimensions and they make it for you accordingly. I have one on a Wing as well and that is why I got the one for the Valk. I had a Corbin solo but it was a little lean in the padding for me, I believe that they are a good seat just didn't fit me right.
Kind of a personal choice thing like oil and wax I guess.
