Start, programs, accessories, system tools, system restore. Choose a date as far back as possible. If that doesn't work, reinstall windows.

Yes, definitely go to Mozilla Firefox and get a good firewall and anti-virus. Hopefully system restore will help as well.

When reloading windows, change the installation folder from windows to windows1 or windows.1. This will keep all your documents photos and stuff available under your original windows folder. You will still need to reload all your programs though.

Fastest way is to rebuild the computer with new windows load. I've done this plenty of times on others computers and always faster than trying to figure out what virus you have and how to get rid of it. Yes you have to reload your programs, but then it works faster when it's cleaner, so that is an added bonus. I recommend Firefox and the free version of AVG. That's what I've been using for years and not had any problems. Good luck with the computer.

If your talking about when you open explorer and not going to your home page (redirecting) to another home page. Just go to explorer Tools, Internet options and under the general tab type in the home page you want ( www.msn.com) and apply. That's it for the right home page.

OK, we finally got the system restore to work but still got problems like my delete button don't work. That's why there'll be a "da" at the end of this reply, can't get it to delete! Also, can't download Mozilla or even get my Yahoo toolbar back! Going to a friends house for a cookout today, he works with computers quite a bit, maybe he can bring his hammer over and give this thing a few good whacks! Now I know why a friend of mine once said that a computer is really "Satan in a box"! Thanks for the replies. :cooldude:da

Had similar problem, virus was smart enough to delete the antivirus software during install. I had to use Avira from a networked computer to remove it. Little home network. Tried an online product but dialup way to slow for that. The problem with the system restore is that it (I think) doesn't actually do the boot sector and all windows programs. The virus may be hiding in boot sector or a program that is not used often but doesn't get redone. That your delete key doesn't work (does CTRL-ALT-DEL work?) indicates it is still there. I had the same antivirus running on two computers, compared directories found a missing file thought how interesting how'd that happen, copied it over the network still wouldn't run. Loked again file was gone. Hmm. burned it to CD, opened explorer to that directory copied it saw it show up, thought alright! then it went away again.
