One did not stay and eat. He was from Bostwick, I think his name was Leon. So we had 6 to eat. Indian Dave came in and took one look at our rowdy little bunch and then headed outside to eat by himself. No really he did look in but didn't recognize anyone, but he looked like a Valkyrie rider to me so I went out and convinced him that his reputation would not be tarnished if he sat with us, so he relented. James's new extra fuel supply is top notch and will come in handy on the Blue Ridge Parkway when there is still 40 miles to the next gas stop or out West. Indian Dave got a nice new ride. I was kind of surprised that Bert and Sherrie were on the same bikes as the last time I saw them, but there may be some changes afoot. Thanks to all that made the ride. I think James probably had the longest ride of the day, but he was doing a shakedown on a couple of new items including the fuel tank. http://s288.photobucket.com/user/fsixrider/slideshow/061513%20Corky%20Bells

Planned on making this one, but once again got a little tied up at work later than I thought I would. Hopefully I can plan better for the next get together. Food looked good. Gregg

Thanks Terry for setting this up. I figured I was going to get wet or.....roast in the saddle but it was actually a great day to ride. I took Hwy 17 north from Sanford all the way to the restaurant. Lots of bikes on the road today, lots of groups of HD's for some reason both going and coming. I logged in just under 200 miles today averaging 325 MPH and 1.6 MPG.......OK, not really..just seeing who is paying attention. I had never met Leon before, he was from Palatka and probably qualifies for the shortest ride, his engine wasn't even warm...I think he might be a lurker on here..Show your self Leon!!! Indian Dave, another Valk guy I had never met, who, by now, is probably in Atlanta for the night on his way to Iowa...yes, I said Iowa, stopped in for some lunch but after seeing us he tries to escape and run. Terry tackled him and drug him back in and made him eat with us. He sat next to Sherri, smart man huh !! I took a few pics in the parking lot and Sherri took a group shot of the "Boys". I won't make you go off site to view the pictures like some people (don't you hate that).. . Thanks again Terry. It is always a pleasure to visit with Bert and Sherri (PS..Bert bought another Valk and Sherri's is for sale (ear plugs included)!!!) James III has his bike looking very nice indeed with the new fuel cell (or BOMB, as the case may be)! Really nice job Jim. Sorry I didn't get any pics of your ride. Our little group in the parking lot of Corky Bells..really good food too! I had Frog Legs..mmmmm Terry, Bert and Leon discussing world issues. The "Lady Dragon Slayer" wondering why they are discussing world issues..she was shaking her head. Three pretty Valks Some guy pulled up and asked if he could please park with us, I said "NO" but Sherri let him..strange machine..2 headlights..What's up with that?? Leon from Palatka's Valk. Nice meeting you Leon, funny thing though, after meeting us all, he suddenly had to leave, go figure huh? Here is that poor chap's bike again. Weirdest thing, it only has half an engine... Group shot by Sherri, Jim and Dave had not yet arrived Indian Daves 2001 I/S. He is loaded for Iowa...yes, I said Iowa.. Very pretty Valk. I had never seen this color combo before Burgundy and Black with lots of goodies. Happy Trails Dave and God's speed on a safe trip

Hey, thanks for the slideshow Thunderbolt! I do like your Rocket; very nice looking machine! Bert, thanks for the pliers, it made a big difference on the Bakers! Great to see Sherrie and yourself again. Finally was able to chat with Jeff a little, very enjoyable, I think we might have ridden quite a few of the same miles through the years. Glad Indian Dave was able to stop by on his way north, good conversation about the Barber Motorsports Museum in Leeds, Al; I have that as a possible destination on the way to Inzane as suggested by Billyboy. Sence Terry was taking the activity and lunchen photo's here's one with him included. L-R Indian Dave, Sherrie, Bert, Terry, Jeff (blurry pic - action shot) As Terry noted today was a shakedown cruise for me. I added a set of Baker Airwings, tried out a new tank bag, made a few notes on the Aux fuel tank, made a seamless changeover on the way up. Noted a few adjustments I need to make in the coming couple of weeks, nothing major, mostly comfort issues. I hit a lite rain heading north this morning just at the top of 471, felt pretty good but dam it got my ride dirty....lol. Ran about 165 miles up; nonstop, the bike really performed very well for me. I took a different route heading home, kinda a mistake as it added another 45 to 50 miles but I did enjoy the ride other than quite a bit of rain that I was in and out of several times and it followed me from 50 all the way down 301 at Chauncy Rd until I turned off at Busch Blvd. Never rained at the house....figures! This is the 3rd or 4th time I have been in the rain with my Taxi tire. It does seem to handle very well in the rain, I feel no plane or slip in the back end. The tank bag; I should have had one years ago. So mileage for the day ended at 366. Not a bad little run!! New E-3 to put on next week if I can get to it. Dirty Gurl has to get a bath and a good cleaning, change the oil, shut down my business for a month and head out on the road toward Inzane. I'm really looking forward to the ride, it should be a fun adventure! Thanks again group! Always looking forward to our meet and mingle! Jim

Oh and Bert just in case you forgot the road numbers near Maggie Valley. 209 from Lake Junaliska to Hot Springs, and 215 goes from 276 S. of Waynesville and crosses under the Blue Ridge Parkway. You can access it from the Parkway and go either direction. There is a beautiful lake on the section between 276 and the Parkway.

Sounds like you guys had a decent time! Glad to hear it and sorry I missed it. Where to this coming weekend? Also...... I think it may be time to do an over nighter somewhere. Lets start to think along those lines. Panhandle so we can rattle the cages of BF and his cohorts may be in order. Then we can embarrass them into heading our way afterward. Will start a thread on this and see where it leads.
