Petcock issue?

Out on a ride today. About 30 miles in and it hits me I never switched my petcock on. It never died off on me. Should I plan on changing this out?

Just got home.
To clarify a bit now that I can type, there has been no leaking from the petcock in any position (OFF/ON). Today I rode about 15mi with it in the OFF position, filled up, then went another 30-32 miles, still in OFF position. Ran about 200 miles and one additional fillup if ON position with no problems or change in how the bike ran. In the final stretch home, turned the petcock to OFF and went about 6 miles. Bike never died. Again, no leaks either.
Only owned the bike since November so assuming petcock is bad but research here shows that it's typically has leaks if it goes bad. So trying to figure out if it is bad or not. Thanks for any help.

Petcock could (sounds like it is) bad, but first test.
Are you sure that it is in the off or on position? It is a ball indent, and others have reported that it hadn't actually seated in a position (off), and fuel was still flowing through. If you turn it slowly and "feel" for it, you can feel as the petcock reaches each position.
Unplug the fuel line after the petcock, and see if fuel is draining while the engine is off.
Do a search and start your reading.
