Just mounted an Austone taxi tire on my Valkyrie yesterday.  It's basically a 175/80/16 (called a 175R/16), adds a total of about 1" height over stock, no mods required, & drops rpm's about 300-400 (@ 75 mph it's running about 3,100 rpm's)

Took it on a 100 mile ride today and simply love it on the highway & in the twisties. I have a sidecar mounted to my Valkyrie (can be removed in about 10 minutes-4 bolts) which is why I originally bought the car tire but after a 100 solo ride, no sidecar attached, I do not want to put it back on.  Got it online at Universal tires, $180 included shipping to Ca, and they also carry a Dunlop version for about $75 more

Your question about the tire direction. Notice the tread is like a  V.

The picture Relax posted of the GYTT tire is mounted the opposite direction.

The picture Relax posted of the GYTT tire is mounted the opposite direction.

The original picture I posted of the new Vredestien shows it mounted the wrong way. Now the tread points in the same direction as the GYTT.

Like the rounded profile a lot. Good looking tire as well as a side benefit. Sure wish it was siped for wet road traction.
Anyone have comments on the Vredestrian on the wet stuff?

Sir,
Running at 25 psi is not a very good idea.
-Too much sidewall flex causing the production of increased heat (but I don't think we will be overheating the tires).
-Low psi will contribute to faster air loss in a tire, increased deflation means handling issues (crash).
-Contributes to a major loss in response, especially in the emergency manevering situation.
-Contributes to secondary response handling issues. One input should have one response, but now the tire is soft and a 2nd correction is needed because the motorcycle will move independently of the tire (both sidewalls are flexing laterally). Kind of like the stability of a marshmellow.
-Low psi will greately decrease the stability of the motorcycle, which means it will wobble/sway much easier, even if traveling straight. And... it may only take a good dip in the roadway to set up a wobble if going fast enough.
These are a few of the basics of low psi. I am 170 pounds and run at 36-38 psi.
I respect your option to ride as you like, but there are good reasons that no one runs at this low psi.

Agreed, 25 psi is simply much too low and exactly for the reasons listed above. You wouldn't run it on your car at that pressure either, so for saftey sake don't do it on the bike.

By "whirl", I mean you can feel the tread vibration. I now have over 10k on the tire and by no means is this bothersomewhile riding under normal conditions. Actually haven't even thought about since the original post because coasting just isn't something you do on a bike.

I had a GYTT and have switched to the Vredestein...
I have about 400 miles on it and have no complaints at all at this point. I haven't been able to totally test it out but like I said... I'm a happy camper with this tire !!!

I finally was able to do some wet riding on the Vredestein.

On Memorial Day, my son and I took a really nice 250 mile ride. 50 of it was in the rain. I am happy to report that the tire was excellent in the rain.  cooldude I was on Hwy 50 doing 55-60mph, the rain was coming down pretty good so there was standing water on the road. No issues what-so-ever. In the wet braking, corning, and accelerating under normal conditions was superb. I of course rode cautiously as anyone would in the rain, but felt 100% confident on the Vredestein.
