Does anyone in the Houstion  area have a good petcock or the repair kit  I could beg borrow or steal until I get a new repair kit from HDL. We're  su pposed to go to the swampfest next Friday and mine is leaking  from the weep hole. Can I plug this hole and ride the bike  and just turn the fuel off at every stop? We really want to attend and just can't think of riding in the van.

No, don't just plug the hole. I'm out of kits or I'd send you one.

What you CAN do...check this pic:

Your fuel diaphram (#2) is bad in order for it to leak out the weephole. You can remove it and put a stiff gasket in between the main petcock and the cover-set (third pic down)...that completely covers the hole where the diapram was (not goes in the hole, just covers it.

This will keep the gas in the gas side, and remove all auto on/off...you'll need to use the manual valve. Plug the vacuum line till you rebuild it.

I've begun to notice a faint smell of gasoline when I park my bike in my garage after a ride and on some of the last couple of warm days a faint smell in the garage when my bike has been in there for a while.  I cannot find any gas leaking from anywhere but the odor it is definitely coming from my scoot.  Could that be a sign my petcock diaphragm is going?

Chuck sometimes they leak from the gas cap gasket or I've even heard of the key slot. If it is the gasket you can shim it with some thicker  material. Smiley
