Hate to admit I've seen the results of someone attempting a launch of a rocket in such a manner.  Unfortunately, the initial sparks hit the "launch pad" and caused  a contraction of the "launch tube" which prevented the rocket from "lifting off".  The solid fuel booster developed additional thrust with more intense flames hitting the launch pad, resulting in even more severe contraction of the launch tube.  The engine at full thrust could not overcome the force exerted by the launch tube so that the subsequent detonation of the warhead just inches from said launch pad resulted in 3rd degree burns to the launch pad.

It was a dis-ass-ter.
