I wrecked my '98 strawberry and cream standard and the insurance company finally issued me a check. I don't mind ordering a new replacement tank thru HDL but they have many part numbers listed and don't indicate the color. Hell, I don't even know if I can get a new tank in this color anymore. I could call them but thought I'd ask here first.
I am also considering getting an Interstate tank and having it painted to match.
Tank, front fender, instruments took the brunt of the damage and I believe I can still use the handlebars, risers, mirrors etc.

I think if you call them, they can tell you what is available. Probably have to get your new tank painted, as all colors are not available. In that case, I would look for a used tank, if I had to get it painted. There were some tanks for sale on the classified section, as well as some fenders.

Thanks,
I called HDL and they gave me the part numbers for this color but they are listed as "No Estimated Delivery" which must mean I can't get 'em.
I've asked the dealer in NC who has the bike to just replace the instruments and get it rideable so I can bring it back home. Then I need to determine if I can get a used tank and fender and have them painted to match.

Why don't you get the bike from the dealer and replace those parts yourself. You can get a speedo and tach from HDL for far less than you will pay through a dealer. I purchased a speedo for approximately 107 or so dollars, the tach is a little higher at 128.00.

If you are riding and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.

The prices for tanks on HDL's Web site vary widely. When I upgraded to an Interstate tank for my Tourer, I just ordered the cheapest one they had as I was going to have it painted anyway.

Mike at ValkyrieBling has a tank and fender I'm considering.
I've emailed the dealer in NC of my intention to trailer the bike back home next weekend. I had hoped to let him do some of the repairs as he's had the bike for almost a month now. I regret not trailering it home in the first place but can't change the past.
I remember reading somewhere how layered the paint is on this combo and am now wondering if it would be easier and less expensive to just have all the body work painted a different color.

Good time to upgrade you tank to a IS larger capacity. You will never regret it, 190 miles to reserve, and another 50 to empty.
I would also think a good time to customize your bike, even something as simple as a single matching color of one of your 2 tones of paint color.

Thanks,
I've ordered the IS tank and front fender from Mike at ValkyrieBling and am now sourcing a local painter. I hope to get it painted the stock colors.

Prices have gone up considerably at HDL! Speedo $262.99 Tach $146.90 Covers $22.46 ea I'll have to wait 'till I get the bike back to see if any of the small parts are needed too.

Ok Len, I believe mine was salvageable but won't know for sure until I get the bike back.

FYI , be sure the painter is familiar with the process to do fuel tanks. Improper work will be damaged by the gasoline. Also , ckeck ihe inside of the tank before the work starts.
just my two cents worth (before taxes) da prez
